Tyler, the Creator Shares More 'CHROMAKOPIA' Footage in New Short Film

As a long-time fan who’s been riding the waves of Tyler, The Creator’s musical journey since his Camp Flog Gnaw days, I must say, the recent release of “MASK IS OFF: CHROMAKOPIA” has sent me on an emotional rollercoaster. It’s like peeking behind the curtain at the wizard himself, and boy, does it make you appreciate the magic even more!

Even though the album has deeply resonated with the cultural moment, Tyler the Creator is signaling that he’s not finished exploring the themes of CHROMAKOPIA. With Camp Flog Gnaw’s 10-year anniversary arriving this weekend and his extensive CHROMAKOPIA world tour scheduled for next year, the artist has offered a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the celebrated album.

Tyler shared an unprecedented six-and-a-half minute short movie titled “MASK IS OFF: CHROMAKOPIA” on his Instagram account, a piece that hadn’t been seen before.

The clip compiles footage of the musician recording various tracks off the project, including bits of “I Killed You” and “I Hope You Find Your Way Home,” as well as the chorus to”Thought I Was Dead” and the hushed vocals on “St. Chroma.”

In addition to his work, Tyler is meticulously crafting the album’s instrumentals, as evidenced by snippets showing him playing with keyboards, horns, percussion, and even using his voice for additional backing melodies. A large part of the video features him seated at his laptop editing things, but he can also be seen moving around in the studio for a considerable amount of time as well.

Appearances feature in the songs “Sticky” (by Sexyy Red) and “Like Him” (by Lola Young), as they each contribute their verses to these tracks.
