As a lifelong Marvel fan, I can’t help but feel the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with every new update about Blade. The character has been around since the 90s and his inclusion into the MCU is long overdue. With two directors bailing out on the project, it’s easy to get frustrated, especially when you’ve waited this long for a taste of blood-sucking action. But let me tell you something, folks, Marvel has been through thick and thin, and they always seem to find their way back to the top.
Recently, Marvel had a significant week. During its D23 event in Brazil, Kevin Feige unveiled plans for the future of Blade, the main character who slays vampires. The film has experienced quite a rollercoaster this year, with two directors departing from the project, leading to delays. Initially, Bassam Tariq stepped away, and later Yann Demange followed suit due to scheduling conflicts that emerged before production began. According to industry sources, Mahershala Ali, who plays the lead role, has expressed his frustration with the development process.
According to Brazilian entertainment news source Omelete, Feige announced during the event that Blade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) character, is expected to join the franchise. Feige expressed confidence that the character would indeed make its way into the MCU, stating, “We are dedicated to bringing Blade to life. We’re fans of the character and Mahershala’s portrayal of him. I assure you: whenever we adjust our plans for a project or are still working out the scheduling details, we keep the public informed. You can trust that you have the most current information. However, I can tell you that Blade will be part of the MCU.
Assuring fans globally, Feige reaffirms that Blade featuring Ali remains a top priority. Yet, he has not disclosed any specific start dates for the production process.
