As a long-time fan of Dancing With the Stars, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions when it comes to Artem Chigvintsev‘s potential return for Season 34. On one hand, the allegations against him are serious and concerning, but on the other, I can’t deny that he was one of my favorite pros on the show.
As Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars” approaches its final couples in the 2024 TV lineup, speculation is mounting about who will join Season 34. The recent milestone 500th episode featured several beloved professional dancers, both in the audience and performing on the dance floor, including Artem Chigvintsev. However, it’s important to note that Artem left the series prior to the current season following his arrest for alleged domestic violence. Now, reports suggest that his legal team has provided an update about his potential return to the long-running dance competition in the future.
As I sat in the audience this week, I found myself reminiscing about my time on DWTS, which sadly won’t include me for Season 33 due to some personal matters that have recently come up. Back in late August, I was arrested on charges of domestic violence involving my wife Nikki Garcia. Following the incident, she filed for divorce two weeks later. However, this week, I made a brief appearance back in the ballroom, catching up with fellow former pro Peta Murgatroyd. She posted a picture of us together on her Instagram Story, which was shared on TMZ’s TikTok page.

Given Chigvintsev’s proximity to some professionals and potential return to the show, even in the audience, how might this impact his future on “DWTS”? According to his attorney, Ilona Antonyan, there have been no contact attempts from producers regarding Season 34, but he expresses interest in returning if the show is receptive to the idea.
It seems Antonyan mentioned that her client remains friendly with the producers. Although he didn’t take part in the opening performance featuring past professional dancer Sharna Burgess, an executive producer is said to have extended a personal invitation for Chigvintsev to attend the studio audience during this significant episode instead.
Currently, Artem Chigvintsev is employed in the construction industry. However, according to Ilona Antonyan, dancing has always been Artem’s deepest passion, and he aims to continue dancing throughout his lifetime.
The divorce court hearing is scheduled for December 6th, as stated in legal papers filed on October 31st and obtained by the Daily Mail. In these documents, the dancer denied being the instigator in his relationship with Nikki Garcia, countering her initial claim that he had tackled and pinned her to the ground during an argument.
Generally, it isn’t until a few weeks prior to its premiere that the cast for Dancing With the Stars is officially revealed. Similarly, professional dancers like Chigvintsev often don’t find out if they’ve been selected for the next season until close to the same time. So, if Chigvintsev were to appear on Season 34, he likely wouldn’t know about it until just before the show begins.
Keeping that in mind, a great deal could shift from now till then, given the dancer’s upcoming court date. Regrettably, it’s hard to predict at this moment who among the pros will return or depart when the new season of Dancing With the Stars starts next year. So, fans can only anticipate and stay tuned for updates.
For now, enthusiasts of Dancing With the Stars can look forward to watching the semifinals for Season 33 on Tuesday, November 19 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on ABC. Alternatively, those with a Disney+ subscription can tune in as well. The finals are scheduled for the following week.
