As a seasoned art enthusiast with a penchant for the quirky and profound, I find myself captivated by the current exhibition at Tang Contemporary Art Bangkok – Benzilla’s “Goood Luck: Glitter Gaze.” With over 20 works on display, this show invites viewers into a world that resonates deeply with my own experiences.
From now until December 15, 2024, Tang Contemporary Art Bangkok will be displaying Benzilla’s latest solo exhibition titled “Goood Luck: Glitter Gaze“. This showcase includes more than 20 pieces, a blend of new sculptures and paintings. The exhibit offers a peek into the thoughtful realm of Benzilla’s iconic three-eyed character, LOOOK.
As I bid you farewell in my gaming world, I use the heartfelt Thai expression “Chôhk Dee,” wishing you luck and expressing hope. This sentiment echoes throughout all my creations, as they weave memories, emotions, and moments of self-reflection together. My artwork is a unique blend of captivating visual storytelling and deeper philosophical exploration, drawing inspiration from the ancient Greek concept of theoria – a harmonious mix of contemplation, theory, and self-awareness.
At the heart of the exhibition is a character named “LOOOK,” symbolizing observation and introspection. With its three interwoven “O” eyes, LOOOK conveys a gaze that delves deeper than superficial observations. Benzilla’s artistic perspective is deepened by his investigation into color, which gives his work a distinctive tension and richness due to his colorblindness. His early works displayed vibrant colors reminiscent of street art, while his more recent pieces utilize softer tones, mirroring a more tranquil approach.
Benzilla expressed that this exhibition embodies his desire for individuals to pause, focus on the moment, and rekindle their bond with their environment. Via the platform LOOOK, the artist connects outer experiences with inner tranquility, providing a playful yet profound tale crafted from his interactions with people, occurrences, and feelings.
In the heart of vibrant Bangkok, I find myself on the second floor of River City Bangkok, specifically in rooms 201 to 206. This location is nestled within Talat Noi, Samphanthawong, at Soi Charoen Krung 24, postal code 10100. Here, I’m immersed in the captivating world of Tang Contemporary Art Bangkok.
