Ayushmann Khurrana admits suffering from childhood trauma because of his father, calls him ‘dictator’: ‘Getting beaten by chappals, belts…’

As an ardent fan of Ayushmann Khurrana, I find his journey to be nothing short of inspiring. His ability to weave emotions and experiences into his characters is truly commendable. However, it’s his personal narrative that truly sets him apart.

In an unusual turn for him, Ayushmann Khurrana, known for his exceptional acting skills, finds himself in a year without any film releases. Yet, he continues to shine in the limelight. Lately, he’s been sharing songs and is on tour across the USA with his band, Aayushmanbhava. In a recent podcast interview, Ayushmann bravely opened up about experiencing childhood trauma at the hands of his strict father. He recounted instances where he was physically punished with ‘chappals’ and belts, describing it as a part of his upbringing.

Ayushmann Khurrana opened up during an interview for Honestly Saying podcast about how he became a father in his 20s, sharing that his first movie, Vicky Donor, was actually released after he had already become a parent. Looking back on this time, he discussed how he and his wife, Tahira Kashyap, developed and matured side by side as they faced the hurdles of being young parents.

Actor from “The Dream Girl” also emphasized that fathering a daughter significantly shaped him, revealing that daughters motivate us to strive for improvement and cultivate greater compassion.

When inquired if his parenting style differed significantly from his own father’s, Ayushmann quickly agreed with a good-natured chuckle, admitting, “I am indeed a distinct type of father. My father ruled like a despot. Receiving spankings with sandals, belts, and the like was simply expected, and yes, there was certainly emotional strain during my childhood.

In a troubling episode, Ayushmann shared that one evening, he had attended a party where his shirt picked up the scent of cigarette smoke. Since he always avoided it due to his father’s strict disapproval, he didn’t handle the shirt himself. However, he was still given a harsh punishment for this perceived transgression.

In my line of work, I’m thrilled to be part of an imminent venture, produced by Dharma Productions, and I’ll be sharing the screen with Sara Ali Khan. The talented actress from Kedarnath recently posted some behind-the-scenes snaps from our movie set with director Aakash Kaushik.

Earlier reports from TopMob suggest that the upcoming movie will likely stand out as an exceptional production by Khurrana, breaking free from traditional spy film norms established in Hindi cinema so far.

Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that he is joining the Maddock Films horror-comedy universe through Thama. This film is helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar and boasts a star-studded cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, and Ayushmann.
