As a long-time fan who’s followed Will Ferrell’s comedic journey since his days on Saturday Night Live, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see him take on yet another unique and hilarious role! With his knack for bringing characters to life that are both absurdly funny and surprisingly relatable, I have no doubts that Judgment Day will be a riot.
Will Ferrell is set to take on the world of televised courtroom justice.
In the works, Ferrell will take on a leading role under the direction of Nicholas Stoller for the upcoming comedic film titled “Judgment Day.” This project is being developed at Amazon MGM Studios, with Stoller himself having written the script.
The storyline revolves around a recently released ex-convict, who seizes control of an impromptu television courtroom. This bold move stems from his belief that the judge on screen (played by Ferrell), handed down a decision that had catastrophic effects on his life.
As a devoted admirer, I’m proud to share that I, along with Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Alex Brown, am part of the production team for Gloria Sanchez Productions. Additionally, Stoller is involved from Stoller Global Solutions.
In the upcoming film titled “You’re Cordially Invited“, directed by Jason Stoller, Ferrell will star alongside Reese Witherspoon. This wedding comedy also features Geraldine Viswanathan and Jimmy Tatro, and it will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting January 30th.
Known for directing movies like “Bros,” “Neighbors” and its sequel, as well as “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” Stoller is also recognized for his screenwriting works such as “The Muppets,” “Yes Man,” and “Fun With Dick and Jane.” Additionally, he collaborated on the Apple TV+ series “Platonic,” starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. This series has been renewed for a second season.
Ferrell, along with his longtime companion Harper Steele, are the focus of the recently released Netflix documentary titled “Will & Harper“. Additionally, Ferrell is set to produce and act in the upcoming film “Street Justice“, produced by 20th Century Studios, under the direction of Peter Atencio. His recent works also include roles in “Barbie” and voiceovers for “Despicable Me 4 ” and “Strays“.
Stoller is represented by UTA.
Deadline was first to report on Judgment Day.
