As a seasoned gamer of life, I can’t help but admire Jay Leno‘s resilience and unwavering spirit. The man’s been through the wringer, from garage fires to motorcycle accidents, yet he keeps on rolling like a well-oiled machine. It’s almost as if he’s playing a high-stakes game of real life Trial & Error, and each time he falls, he gets up with a joke in hand.
Over the weekend, Jay Leno suffered an accident when he tumbled down a steep slope. As a result, he now sports an eyepatch and has a significant bruise.
On Monday, the previous host of The Tonight Show was questioned about the incident by TMZ. He revealed that he had been residing in a hotel situated on a hilltop, and during a walk towards a restaurant at the foot of the hill, he unfortunately tripped and fell.
To reach that location, I didn’t have a car, so we had to walk approximately a mile and a half around it instead. Thinking it wasn’t too steep, I decided to take a chance and descend the hill since it was roughly 60-70 feet high. However, as Leno recounted, he soon fell down, tumbling repeatedly. He hit his head on a rock and got his eye injured in the process.
The 74-year-old humorist mentioned that he continued with his performance at the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland, California later on that day, and afterwards, he obtained medical care upon returning to Los Angeles.
“It’s not that big of a deal. It’s alright, it’s alright. … The great thing about this age [is] you don’t learn by your mistakes, you just keep doing the same stupid thing,” Leno quipped, referring to his 2022 burn accident.
In November 2022, the celebrity from Jay Leno’s Garage experienced severe burns due to a garage fire. After this unfortunate event, he stated that flames reached his face while he was tinkering with one of his classic cars, and he had to stay for multiple days at the Grossman Burn Center for treatment.
The next year, he disclosed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he had been involved in a motorcycle accident and sustained multiple injuries. When asked about his condition following the gas fire incident, Leno humorously replied, “It’s quite amusing you should ask that. That was the first accident. Then just last week, I was thrown off my motorcycle. So I have a broken collarbone, two cracked ribs, and two injured kneecaps.
The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Leno’s rep for additional comment about his recent fall.
