‘Happy’s Place’ Books Full-Season Order at NBC

As a long-time fan of Reba McEntire and her incredible talent, I couldn’t be happier to hear the news that NBC has ordered five additional episodes of “Happy’s Place”. It seems like the country queen is still ruling the small screen with her charm and wit!

NBC is keeping Happy’s Place open a bit longer.

Five more episodes of Reba McEntire’s debut comedy series have been commissioned by the network, bringing the total number of episodes for this season up to 18, which aligns with the standard for Peak TV-era programming.

Following the strong debut of “Happy’s Place”, the network has decided to extend its season with a full order. Outperforming NBC’s other comedies this season, it’s the most-watched, garnering an average audience of 3.49 million viewers during its first broadcast, according to Nielsen data. The viewership significantly increases when counting streaming and delayed viewing. In fact, NBC claims that the series premiere on October 18 reached a total of 14 million viewers across all platforms.

In this multi-camera sitcom, McEntire plays Bobbie, a character who inherits her deceased father’s tavern, affectionately known as Happy’s Place. As she navigates the tavern, Bobbie encounters an unexpected partner – Isabella (played by Belissa Escobedo), a twenty-something half sister whom she was previously unaware of. The ensemble also includes Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn.

Happy’s Place has been granted extra episodes, joining Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Poppa’s House, and NCIS: Origins in this expansion. NBC’s other freshman fall shows, Brilliant Minds and St. Denis Medical, are expected to maintain their initial 13-episode orders but will continue fighting for renewal.

Universal Television is behind the production of “Happy’s Place”. The show is overseen by executive producers Kevin Abbott, who previously worked with McEntire on “Reba” and “Malibu Country”, as well as McEntire herself, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry, and Pamela Fryman. The series was created by Kevin Abbott and his partner, Julie Abbott.
