As a seasoned traveler and fashion enthusiast with a soft spot for Japanese culture, the news about BEAMS LIFE Yokohama has me absolutely thrilled! After countless trips to Japan, I’ve always admired the unique blend of tradition and innovation that this nation offers, particularly in its fashion scene. The idea of a 1000 sq m experiential retail destination is music to my ears!
Japanese clothing brand, BEAMS, has announced its intention to launch a 1,000 square meter interactive shopping experience called BEAMS LIFE Yokohama. Positioned south of Tokyo, this multi-store venue will showcase various product lines and engaging activities.
Starting in early November, the brand started sharing unique marketing visuals on their newly created Instagram account, beams_life_yokohama. These images showcased a variety of items such as new clothing lines, pre-owned garments, media content, collectibles, home decor, and even grocery products.
In simpler terms, the store is going to integrate several mini-stores from different vendors under one roof. There’s also a permanent Starbucks cafe inside, featuring unique BEAMS x Starbucks items, as well as a dedicated section called BEAMS B-Jirushi MARKET for special food and beverage products. Additionally, you’ll find Mr. Clean, a vintage clothing and book specialist, in a temporary setup until January 30. Lastly, there’s BEAMS CULTUART offering an exclusive assortment of art and lifestyle merchandise.
For the first time, a well-known Japanese street fashion brand, which has been around for several decades, has ventured into physical retailing not just in Japan but also in the United States. On November 15, the BEAMS PLUS Limited Store officially opened at 620 Imperial Street, Los Angeles, CA and will remain open until December 24. This LA store is merely the first step towards a larger strategy for the brand’s growth in the North American market, with additional activities planned for 2025.
