As an ardent fan who has followed Sonakshi Sinha‘s journey from her debut in Dabangg, I find her life story to be nothing short of cinematic magic. Her career, much like a Bollywood blockbuster, started with an unexpected twist – an ‘arranged marriage’ to the silver screen!
Actress Sonakshi Sinha launched her Bollywood career in the blockbuster movie Dabangg (2010), starring alongside Salman Khan, a role which propelled her to fame. In a recent reflection on this breakthrough part, she likened the experience of getting it to an ‘arranged marriage’, an intriguing analogy that underscores the unforeseen path her career has taken.
During a chat with Kareena Kapoor on her podcast What Women Want Season 5, I myself recounted an unforeseen turn in my career journey. I disclosed that it was Salman Khan and his brother Arbaaz Khan who spotted me at Amrita Arora’s wedding, following a substantial weight loss, which set the wheels in motion for my entry into the world of Bollywood.
Originally, Sonakshi was skeptical when they told her about their project and hinted at a suitable role for her. However, things took a turn when Salman Khan and Arbaaz dropped by her home to discuss the script with her and her family. Before long, she found herself immersed in the making of Dabangg on set.
In a similar vein, the actress from Heeramandi described her initial feelings as being akin to an arranged marriage. However, upon arriving on set, she discovered her passion for acting and has continued with it ever since.
Previously, while I was engrossed in my studies of fashion design and fresh from shedding extra pounds that I carried as an adolescent, I encountered an unexpected turn in my interaction with PTI – the audition for Dabangg took me by surprise.
She wasn’t given a choice about taking on the role in the movie; instead, she was informed that she was already included in the film’s cast. Things moved at such a rapid pace, and once she started working, there was scarcely any opportunity for contemplation regarding her involvement. The transition into acting felt incredibly intuitive, as if it were something she had always been destined to do.
Released on September 10, 2010, the movie “Dabangg” gained massive popularity, resulting in two sequels: “Dabangg 2” in 2012 and “Dabangg 3” in 2019. Directed by Abhinav Kashyap, this film brought to life the fearless yet eccentric police officer Chulbul Pandey, played by Salman Khan. Notably, Sonakshi Sinha’s portrayal of the resilient Rajjo left a deep impact as well.
