I Did Not Have Scarlett Johansson Giving An Update On Colin Jost And Pete Davidson's Staten Island Ferry On My Bingo Card, But Tis The Season

As a gamer with a knack for trivia and a soft spot for pop culture, I find the recent news about Pete Davidson and Colin Jost’s purchase of the Staten Island Ferry absolutely mind-blowing! It’s not every day you hear about two comedians turning a decommissioned ferry into an event space.

A benefit of becoming famous is often the abundance of wealth that comes with it. This wealth allows individuals to purchase items they desire, even if they aren’t strictly necessary. For example, if you’re the stars of Saturday Night Live (SNL), Pete Davidson and Colin Jost, you could simply buy the Staten Island Ferry should the whim strike you.

In January 2022, these two individuals from Staten Island decided to purchase a disused ferry with the goal of transforming it into a venue for events. Although the ferry had been sitting idle and was quite an eyesore as late as this past summer, it seems that the ship is now being utilized for some of its intended purposes.

Scarlett Johansson Reveals That Events Are Now Taking Place On Davidson And Jost’s Ferry

Scarlett Johansson, Colin Jost’s wife, recently discussed a boat incident on “Live with Kelly and Mark”. She disclosed that an incident occurred aboard the vessel earlier this year, but the level of comfort during the event remains uncertain. The famed “Black Widow” actress then shared her thoughts on the matter…

He bought the Staten Island Ferry, a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry, and it is, yup, still decommissioned. I was like ‘Okay, what’s happening with this boat? It’s gotta start paying for its own docking fees, at least, right?’ This year they had the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Show on the Staten Island Ferry… I was like ‘Fashion people are coming on the Staten Island Ferry?’ What’s happening with the bathrooms? Surely you renovated the bathrooms.’

It seems the bathrooms weren’t updated, but no alarming tales have emerged from the September event, suggesting all went well. The intention behind purchasing the ferry, dubbed Titanic 2 by Jost and Davidson, was for events; it appears they’re utilizing it as intended now. However, reports indicate it was used quite differently more recently.

The Ferry Was Used To Film (Another) Public Domain Mickey Mouse Horror Movie

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got my eyes on quite a few movies set for release in 2025, but one that might have slipped under your radar is “Screamboat”. Now, this movie features David Howard Thornton, known for his chilling roles, taking on the villainous Mickey Mouse. Interestingly, the first Mickey Mouse cartoon, Steamboat Willie, entered the public domain at the beginning of 2024. This means anyone can use that particular version of Mickey Mouse in their work. And get this – according to TMZ, the entire film was shot on Jost and Davidson’s ferry!

Don’t get Screamboat mixed up with The Mouse Trap, a distinct horror movie from this year that features a human wearing a Mickey Mouse mask and committing murders in an arcade. In contrast, the upcoming Screamboat aspires to be the top horror film based on a public domain cartoon, where a mouse plays “Turkey in the Straw” on a cow’s teeth, which we might encounter this decade.

If you’re considering hosting an event on the Staten Island Ferry, it’s worth noting that Scarlett Johansson confirms its availability. After serving as a set for the film “Screamboat”, the boat underwent a thorough cleaning due to extensive use of fake blood. This means it might be in its top condition in quite some time!
