‘Twilight’ Star Chaske Spencer Doesn’t Want to Return for Netflix’s Animated Series

As a movie buff with over three decades of film-watching under my belt, I must say that the return of Peter Facinelli as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in Netflix’s upcoming animated Twilight series is nothing short of delightful news! Having witnessed his remarkable performance since the first film, it’s heartening to know that he remains just as enthusiastic about reprising this iconic role.

As a dedicated fan of the Twilight saga, I’ve always been captivated by Sam Uley, the leader of the Quileute werewolf pack in La Push. However, it’s regrettable to announce that Chaske Spencer, who portrayed Sam so brilliantly, won’t be reprising his role in Netflix’s upcoming animated Twilight series. Initially, it wasn’t unexpected not to see Sam in the first instance as his intriguing character didn’t debut until the second film, The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Yet, it’s now certain that Spencer won’t lend his voice to the character again, according to a recent interview with TV Insider.

I’ll take a peek at it. Certainly, I’ll give it a glance. Indeed, I’ll scrutinize it. Frankly, I’m past my prime. It seems to me that a more youthful, fit actor would be suitable for the role.

Though Sam wasn’t aligned with either Team Edward or Team Jacob in the Twilight saga, there were certainly fans who supported him, especially when he bit into Jane (played by Dakota Fanning) from the Volturi in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Despite Spencer not returning for the Netflix series, Peter Facinelli, known for his portrayal of Dr. Carlisle Cullen, is open to playing his role again. In a 2023 interview (as reported by Variety), Facinelli expressed his willingness to reprise his character.

I’m a fan first and foremost. But if they call me I’ll be there. If not, I’ll be watching for sure.

Instead of Spencer, Facinelli joined The Twilight Saga from its inception, starring in all five movies of the series. In Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Carlisle appeared to be beheaded during the final battle; this event occurred just before Sam defeated Jane during the conflict with the Volturi. However, these sudden deaths were actually part of Alice’s (Ashley Greene) prophecy of the future, meaning that thankfully, Carlisle never succumbed to death at Aro’s (Michael Sheen) hands.

Peter Facinelli Is Willing to Return for Both ‘Twilight’ & ‘Nurse Jackie’

Peter Facinelli expresses his excitement about returning as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in Netflix’s animated “Twilight” series. Furthermore, he mentions his desire to take on the role of Dr. Fitch Cooper, or Coop, once again in the forthcoming reboot of “Nurse Jackie.” Facinelli made these comments during a recent interview.

I’m thrilled to witness the return of “Twilight” and “Nurse Jackie.” These shows hold a special place in my heart, along with their talented cast, creators, and producers. It feels like coming home to a cherished family. For me, “Twilight” spanned six years, while “Nurse Jackie” went on for seven, so wrapping up those stories was quite an emotional experience.

It’s tough to let go and carry on, but the chance to possibly replay them later could be exciting. If not, I’ll just enjoy watching. Frankly, I feel like I’ve already experienced too much goodness!

Although Netflix hasn’t found its cast for the Twilight series yet, as of now, enthusiasts can watch all five movies in the Twilight Saga on Hulu. On the other hand, Prime Video is set to bring back Edie Falco as the main character in the continuation of Nurse Jackie.

Apart from starring in the project, Falco holds the role of an executive producer alongside Bob Greenblatt. The duo Liz Flahive and Abe Sylvia are responsible for writing the show, with Sylvia also set to direct. In the upcoming series on Prime Video, Falco’s character, Jackie Peyton, grapples with fresh challenges as she strives to do what is right in a world where wrongdoing can sometimes seem easier and more entertaining.
