As a seasoned gamer who has navigated through countless virtual worlds and seen characters band together to overcome challenges, I find it heartwarming to see real-life heroes like Tom Bergeron and Yvette Nicole Brown uniting once again for MPTF’s fundraising telethon – Lights, Camera, Take Action!.

Tom Bergeron and Yvette Nicole Brown are ready to say Lights, Camera, Take Action!

Once again, the duo is ready to oversee and create MPTF’s annual fundraising event, which will be broadcast live for the third consecutive year. This three-hour special, airing on KTLA Los Angeles from 7 pm to 9 pm on December 8, aims to collect emergency aid for struggling Hollywood crew members. The telecast will include heartwarming stories, melodious performances, and appearances by famous personalities as they work together to generate funds for the entertainment industry’s workers in distress.

For the first broadcast, over $850,000 was earned compared to last year’s event which brought in over $750,000. The MPTF aims to collect around $750,000 during their December event.

Brown stated that the current situation of the industry is distinctive and demanding, as we strive to navigate our path towards the future. It’s essential for us all to unite and support each other during this transition, especially those who may be struggling,” Brown said in a statement, implying a business that is adapting to a changed landscape following significant strikes and a global pandemic.

Bergeron remarked excitedly: “I can hardly wait to return to the studio with Yvette once more, so we can spread the news about the vital work being done to aid those truly in need. There will undoubtedly be tunes, laughter, and perhaps a few emotional moments shared with those we’ve assisted and the countless others who sustain this cause. And since it’s live television, make sure you tune in to see what unfolds!

Event organizers have given a sneak peek of what’s to come by announcing some notable figures who will grace the event: Camilla Belle, Cedric the Entertainer, Clark Gregg, Colin Farrell, Cooper Koch, Diane Schuur, Ellen K, Emily Hampshire, Henry Winkler, Ike Barinholtz, Jay Ellis, Jessica Betts, Jimmy Jam, Jimmy Kimmel, Jonathan Nolan, Josh Margolin, Keegan-Michael and Elle Key, Ken Jeong, Kyle Bornheimer, Lisa Loeb, Max Greenfield, McG, Melissa Gilbert, Morgan Freeman, Howie Mandel, Rob Morrow, Spencer Garrett, Tiffany Smith, Tony Goldwyn, Virginia Madsen, Walton Goggins, Whoopi Goldberg, Will Forte, William Shatner, and more to be unveiled later.

MPTF’s president and CEO, Bob Beitcher, pointed out that our organization’s founder, Mary Pickford, foresaw instability and career challenges for many workers in the early days of Hollywood’s film industry. He added that recent events such as the pandemic and strikes have underscored both the accuracy of her prediction and the importance of an organization like MPTF that supports its members during financial hardships.
