As a seasoned gamer of life and streaming platforms, I can confidently say that 2024 has been a fascinating year for Netflix, to say the least. On one hand, we have the gripping true crime docuseries, Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey, which has managed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats with its intriguing take on the infamous cold case. However, it’s hard to ignore the elephant in the room – or rather, the reindeer in the Christmas movie – Lindsay Lohan’s Our Little Secret.
Examining Netflix’s 2024 lineup leaves no doubt about its versatility. This versatility is evident with two of its top current offerings being the true crime docuseries, “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey,” and Lindsay Lohan’s Christmas movie, “Our Little Secret.” Despite both projects performing well, it’s clear that the Lindsay Lohan revival (or Lohanaissance) has made a significant impact on Netflix, as her film is currently leading the pack in the Top Ten list.
Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey Is Doing Very Well On Netflix
Currently, among shows being marathoned by Netflix viewers, the docuseries “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey” has taken center stage. This series premiered on Netflix’s 2024 schedule on November 25 and has already amassed an impressive 40.3 million hours of viewing in just nine days. Translated into views, that’s approximately 13.4 million times it was watched within a week – quite remarkable for such a short period.
The true crime series on the TV Top Ten list of the streamer has garnered approximately 4.1 million more views than the show in second place, titled “The Madness.
Although it’s not entirely unexpected, the release of a new series about the JonBenét Ramsey case always generates renewed interest. As stated in the miniseries synopsis, this three-episode production focuses on “the shortcomings of the initial investigation and DNA evidence that might lead police to her killer,” thereby shedding light on fresh aspects of this long-unsolved mystery.
Given all of the aspects I considered, I thought it would rank among Netflix’s top crime shows. However, it is essential to mention that although this series is highly acclaimed in television, it doesn’t hold the top spot on Netflix. That distinction belongs to Lindsay Lohan’s latest holiday movie titled “Our Little Secret“.
However, Lindsay Lohan’s Our Little Secret Is Absolutely Dominating On The Streamer
Currently, a movie standing tall at the top of Netflix’s most-watched list is quite intriguing. The film “Our Little Secret,” featuring Lindsay Lohan, was highly anticipated among Christmas movies slated for 2024 release. Surprisingly, the initial viewership in its debut week surpassed expectations, even with somewhat negative reviews for the movie. However, I’m willing to acknowledge when I’m mistaken, and in this case, I must admit that I underestimated its popularity.
In a third collaboration with Netflix, following the release of “Falling for Christmas” in 2022 and “Irish Wish” in 2024, the movie titled “Our Little Secret” has become incredibly popular. After its debut on November 27, there was a significant surge in Netflix subscriptions as viewers hurried to watch this heartwarming story about two former lovers who find themselves spending the holidays together. In its first week, it garnered an impressive 32.4 million views, which translates to a whopping 54.6 million hours watched.
To provide some perspective on how remarkable this figure is, let’s compare it to the viewership of other notable Christmas movies on Netflix. Specifically, Lacey Chabert’s “Hot Frosty” and Chad Michael Murray’s “The Merry Gentlemen”. During its first week, “Hot Frosty” attracted 16 million viewers, while “The Merry Gentleman” drew in 14.7 million viewers during its debut week. Notably, “Our Little Secret” surpassed both these films, garnering more than double their combined viewership.
As a gamer, I’ve got to say, it’s no secret that our recent event smashed Netflix’s most-watched series, “Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey,” by a whopping 19 million views! So, if you haven’t caught on yet (though I can’t imagine how), we are squarely in the midst of a Lohani-revival!
To find out why everyone’s talking so much about movies and TV shows, you can currently watch “Our Little Secret” and “Cold Case: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey” on Netflix.
