As a longtime fan of Zachary Levi’s work, I couldn’t be happier to see him embarking on this new and exciting journey as he prepares to become a father for the first time. His heartfelt words about wanting to be a dad since he was a child resonate deeply with me, as I too have always admired his portrayal of fatherly figures in shows like Chuck and Shazam!
Zachary Levi is going to be a dad for the first time!
On Instagram last Friday, the actor from Shazam! announced that he and his girlfriend, Maggie Keating, are going to be parents for the first time. In his post, Levi included an image of their ultrasound along with a snapshot of Keating embracing him on the beach.
Ever since I was young, I’ve dreamt about becoming a father,” he expressed in the caption. “I’ve always sensed a pull towards this role. It’s been an unusual yearning, a void in my life without the love and responsibility that fatherhood offers. I felt that the most fulfilling periods of my life would be post-fatherhood. However, I also knew that there were aspects of my life that needed adjustment before I could handle the precious gift and duties that come with it.
Levi went on to say, “Beginning last November, I began making changes in my life that centered around self-love and self-worth. I prioritized my own well-being, focusing on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. And astonishingly, positive changes started happening right away.
The shining star named Chuck expressed gratitude for his girlfriend, expressing in a post, “Swiftly, God sent an intelligent, truthful, down-to-earth, and profound love my way through the angelic presence of @maggiekeating. She’s a remarkable woman on a similar quest of self-discovery and affection, prepared to embark upon a fresh and extraordinary chapter of life with me. As a result, we took that journey together.
As a gamer, I’m super excited for you all to get to know our new addition! We haven’t found out the baby’s gender just yet, so it’ll be a surprise when they arrive!
He went on to say, “I’ll be absolutely thrilled no matter what happens,” he continued. “Feel free to suggest unique baby names. Make them distinctive, but avoid names that are overly unconventional. We want to spare them the additional teasing their drama-loving dad might already receive.

Levi’s declaration follows close on the heels of Laura Benanti, his previous Broadway colleague in “She Loves Me,” expressing her lack of admiration for the actor during a recent interview on “That’s a Gay Ass Podcast.
Benanti spoke out against Levi for his comments made after Gavin Creel’s passing. The award-winning actor tragically passed away in September at the age of 48, following a short fight with a rare and aggressive type of cancer called metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma. However, Levi subsequently implied on Instagram Live that Creel had died due to the COVID-19 vaccine.
In reaction, Benanti stated, ‘I found that disgusting.’ He was referring to the act of manipulating memories for political purposes and attempting to make himself cry until there was just one tear left, which he didn’t wipe away. This behavior left me with a lasting feeling of disdain.
The Hollywood Reporter previously reached out to Levi’s rep for comment.
