As a dedicated follower of Bollywood, I must say it’s fascinating to delve into the behind-the-scenes stories of our favorite films. The tale of Sonakshi Sinha’s dislike for her character’s name Chanda in R… Rajkumar is one such intriguing anecdote. It’s not every day you hear about a leading actress trying to change her character’s name!

Actors Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha worked together in Prabhu Deva’s romantic-action film titled R… Rajkumar back in 2013. In the movie, Sonakshi Sinha portrayed a character named Chanda, but it was later disclosed that she wasn’t fond of this name and attempted to alter it. During an earlier interview, Shahid Kapoor shared this information.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha’s film R… Rajkumar. During their promotions, they talked about how the name of Sonakshi’s character, Chanda, caused her some discomfort initially. When we were filming the energetic track, Saree Ke Fall Sa, the name of her character was still under wraps, adding to the intrigue!

Whenever they all spent time in a room with Director Prabhu Deva, she’d walk in and exclaim, “What’s this nickname ‘Chanda’? Can you please change it to something different?” or simply, “Why am I called Chanda here? Could you use another name for me instead?

As reported by Kapoor, during the first few days, the actress made a determined effort to change her name, yet nobody could figure out why she was so insistent. The actress from Dabangg then explained that she had even requested assistance from her co-star Shahid, but to no avail. When inquired about her dislike for the name Chanda, the actress simply said, “I’m not sure, it just doesn’t feel right and seems inadequate.

It was mentioned that she could have been named Chandani or another name, but instead they considered calling her character Purnima. However, this didn’t come to fruition, and in the film, her name remained Chanda. The movie went on to become a commercial hit, earning more than 100 crores.

Currently, Shahid is preparing to begin his new film endeavor alongside Triptii Dimri, tentatively named “Arjun Ustara”. According to a reliable source, the production is expected to start rolling from January 6.

A trusted source within the industry reveals to TopMob that an enormous film set is currently being built at a Mumbai studio, realizing the movie’s concept.
