As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the digital worlds of various celebrities and fictional characters alike, I can empathize with Billy Eichner’s starstruck moment at Madonna’s Oscar after-party. The sight of Travis Kelce, towering over him like a giant amongst pygmies, would have been enough to send shivers down my spine.

It’s not unusual for people to confuse celebrities with others or mix up the titles of their works, and I can understand that such mistakes might be annoying. However, when a big-name celebrity like Travis Kelce gets the name of Billy Eichner’s project wrong, it’s easy to see why the host of Billy on the Street chose not to correct him, as I would have been similarly awestruck by the star’s presence.

Upon entering, there were numerous well-known personalities present, including Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, whom I recognized immediately. Though I didn’t know them personally, they caught my attention. As I moved about, mingling with others, I experienced a rather assertive backslap – quite masculine, if you will. Turning around, I found it was Travis Kelce who had given me the pat, despite his towering presence over my 6’3″ stature. Actors are usually shorter, after all!

As a fervent fan, let me share my perspective: Compared to Eichner, Travis Kelce stands two inches taller and, given his profession as a football player, I can only imagine he’s significantly heavier too. So, when the comedian encountered him, it came as quite a surprise!

However, it was the New Heights host knowing about his viral show – Billy on the Street – that really took him back, especially because Kelce didn’t get the title 100% correct, as Eichner hilariously explained:

In an unexpected encounter, there I was face-to-face with Travis Kelce, surrounded by some of the most renowned figures in the world. In a booming voice, he exclaimed, “Hey Jimmy, out here on the streets! I dig you, buddy!” It was indeed Travis Kelce, whom I never anticipated recognizing me. Despite my surprise, his conviction left me unable to correct him.

In his position, I’d likely let it slide too, for not only would I be awestruck, but the little mistake was quite adorable and endearing. Moreover, it provided a fun moment of connection between them whenever they met at this party, as the famous Bro actor put it: “It’s these charming mishaps that make life more exciting!

He appeared overjoyed upon spotting me, making it clear he was an admirer. Yet, there I stood in his presence, next to Taylor Swift, feeling quite flustered. All through the evening, our paths seemed destined to cross, and he repeatedly gave me a friendly fist bump.

During the event, the individual playing Mufasa commented that Kelce was “charming,” and they exchanged multiple fist bumps throughout the evening. Interestingly, the comedian usually doesn’t use fist bumps as a means of communication, but made an exception in this case.

I’d also like to point out that it makes sense that Travis Kelce knew who Billy Eichner was.
