Sabrina Carpenter Makes Surprise Appearance on ‘BBC Maestro’ to Talk Songwriting (Exclusive)

As a long-time fan of Sabrina Carpenter and her enchanting pop melodies, this latest news has me absolutely thrilled! The opportunity to witness the songstress delve into her creative process through Eric Vetro’s BBC Maestro course is like striking gold in a sea of musical lessons.

2021’s Pop It Girl and acclaimed music producer Sabrina Carpenter unexpectedly joined Eric Vetro’s BBC Maestro course, as The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

An exclusive bonus session titled “Songwriting With Sabrina Carpenter” offers a peek into the process of creating music with the popular artist. This unique tutorial focuses on Sabrina’s methodology for writing lyrics, composing melodies, and narrative storytelling, delving deeply into her single “Please Please Please.

In a clip shared with THR, Carpenter expresses her deep affection for the track, titled ‘Please, Please, Please’. She says, “It’s something I adore tremendously.” Writing this song was thrilling because it seemed like a piece of me that I had been eager to create and share. The act of writing and then performing it filled me with excitement, not just for the rest of the project, but also because it resonates strongly with the music I’ve always cherished and yet feels distinctly my own.

She also mentions that the song clearly draws from actual experiences, hinting at her speculated relationship with Irish artist Barry Keoghan, who appeared in the music video. Vetro continues, “I was teaching Charlie Puth a lesson when he said, ‘By the way, you should tell Sabrina about this song. I can’t believe it! It’s fantastic. It’s amazing.’

The extra episode will be released on Monday, immediately following the much-awaited Netflix Christmas special by Carpenter.

Eric Vetro serves as a vocal coach for prominent figures, having previously collaborated with both Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey prior to their appearances in the musical production of “Wicked“. His instructional course on BBC Maestro is structured around concise, manageable lessons. These lessons cover various aspects such as warm-up exercises, enhancing vocal strength and flexibility, expanding vocal range, singing harmoniously, mastering proper vocal postures, and effectively conveying lyrics.

The course has launched on BBC Maestro.
