As a gamer who’s been navigating the labyrinth of Marvel timelines since the dawn of the Infinity Saga, I can confidently say that the multiverse has its quirks, but it’s high time for Aaron Taylor-Johnson to get his due in the MCU. The Quicksilver saga has been a rollercoaster ride, with twists and turns that would make even Loki himself dizzy.
One delight of the Marvel Multiverse lies in its ability for almost any character to return, whether they’ve traveled back through time (Captain America), been sent to distant corners of the galaxy (Hulk), or met their end (Iron Man). The upcoming Marvel films, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, promise a host of unexpected returns for former Marvel heroes and adversaries. This anticipation is amplified following the announcement that Chris Evans will rejoin the MCU once more, having previously portrayed Johnny Storm in Deadpool and Wolverine. Considering the flexibility Marvel enjoys with their characters, I’m hoping they address a nagging oversight that appears to be troubling Aaron Taylor-Johnson subtly.
Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, famous for his role in Kick-Ass, is set to make a splash as Kraven the Hunter in an upcoming Sony film, not connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In an interview with IMDB, Taylor-Johnson reminisced about playing Quicksilver, the speedster, in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, many will remember that his Quicksilver character met his end in that very film. Yet, the character was revived in WandaVision, a series available exclusively on Disney+. The resurrected Quicksilver, though, was portrayed by Evan Peters, who played the character most memorably in the X-Men universe. It’s quite puzzling!
Speaking on the switch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson jokingly quipped:
As a die-hard fan, let me express that Elizabeth Olsen is simply extraordinary on screen, an absolute radiant star, and genuinely kind-hearted off it. She’s more than just a talented actress; she’s a wonderful human being, and I’m not exaggerating. I feel incredibly fortunate to have acted alongside her as her husband in Godzilla and her brother in Avengers. It’s still puzzling to me why she didn’t bring my character back to life, though! (laughs)
In a delightful twist in the series “WandaVision,” I found myself chuckling over the fact that when Scarlet Witch brought back her brother, it was none other than Evan Peters’ version from the Fox X-Men films. This unexpected encounter was filled with humor, and what made it even more intriguing was the shared history between Paul (Taylor-Johnson) and Evan, who starred together in “Kick-Ass” early on in our careers. When questioned by IMDB about any past conversations with this quick-silver co-star regarding our shared role, Paul shared:
To be clear, I must admit that I did encounter him at Comic-Con, amidst the assembly of X-Men actors. It was an extraordinary moment, akin to a self-pinching sensation of disbelief, as we both marveled at our shared fortune – being present and still engaged in pursuing what we passionately love. Ironically, though our paths lead us to different realms, executing our respective crafts. Truthfully, I hold immense respect for his skillful portrayal of that character. Certain aspects, I believe, were brilliantly executed and truly resonated with the character’s essence.
As a die-hard gamer speaking up honestly, I firmly believe that Aaron Taylor-Johnson deserves another shot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sure, Quicksilver wasn’t an original Avenger, but he’s been with the team long enough to warrant more than just a tragic end in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and certainly not as a punchline in some Disney+ series. I say “some” because Evan Peters reprised his role as the supposedly resurrected Quicksilver in Agatha All Along, portraying the character in a rather over-the-top manner.
It’s high time we show more recognition for the Quicksilver character, and I propose bringing Aaron Taylor-Johnson back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This could happen in either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars”. These upcoming movies are shaping up to be the ultimate superhero team-ups, and I don’t foresee Taylor-Johnson playing Kraven beyond this initial return. What do you all think? Was this possible comeback to the MCU on your radar?
