- Brawl Stars is teaming up with Toy Story, the iconic Pixar film series
- New costumes themed after characters from the franchise are included
- Meanwhile, a new (temporary) Brawler lands in the form of Buzz Lightyear
As a 90s kid who grew up with the magical charm of Pixar’s Toy Story, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia as I witness this iconic franchise teaming up with Brawl Stars! The thought of my beloved Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep, and Jessie joining forces with Colt, Bibi, Surge, and the rest of the Brawl Stars crew is nothing short of surreal.
It appears that after Supercell began exploring collaborations, particularly with footballer Erling Haaland, this move seemed almost unavoidable and they dived into it headfirst. Now, the latest Supercell project to be impacted by the crossover trend is quite significant: Toy Story has invaded Brawl Stars!
Regardless of whether you were raised with them or had children who were deeply engrossed in them, it is highly probable that you are familiar with Pixar’s Toy Story. This renowned animated movie series has been around for quite some time now and continues to hold a distinctive place as one of the pioneering full 3D animated features ever made.
In the game Brawl Stars, Toy Story characters have been introduced, including Colt Woody, Bo Beep Bibi, two Jessies (one of them being Jessie), and Surge Lightyear. As for Lightyear, Buzz will make his first appearance today and can be played until February 4th!
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR
Buzz is a temporary character and won’t be available in ranked matches, but he packs quite a punch with his abilities. He can either electrify opponents using his laser or make an entrance by flying into combat. Starting from the first reward of the Brawliday calendar, which is a fun extra for the holiday season, Buzz will make his debut.
You can check out all the details on the Toy Story x Brawl Stars collab on Supercell’s official blog. But I think overall this is as straightforward as you can get. What’s interesting is that it paints a strange picture of Brawl Stars’ target audience. Toy Story is popular with kids, sure, but I doubt you’d find anyone over the age of 20 who didn’t watch at least one of them.
In this situation, it makes perfect sense for everyone to benefit if the game appeals to both young gamers and veteran players who are fond of reminiscing. It’s no wonder that Supercell is exploring collaborations, given that such partnerships could potentially be advantageous for all parties involved.
While you’re here, would it be alright if I gently recommend you have a look at our compiled list featuring the best Brawl Stars characters, arranged in order of ranking, before you dive into the game?
