As a die-hard fan of both Bret Easton Ellis’ groundbreaking novel “American Psycho” and Luca Guadagnino’s exquisite cinematic storytelling, I can hardly contain my excitement for this upcoming remake! Having witnessed the masterful interpretations of love and longing in films like “Call Me By Your Name,” “A Bigger Splash,” and most recently, “Queer,” it’s not hard to imagine Guadagnino breathing new life into the horror-tinged satire that is “American Psycho.
Austin Butler has been chosen to play the lead character Patrick Bateman in the upcoming remake of “American Psycho.” Director Luca Guadagnino plans to bring a fresh take on the story, which is based on the novel with the same title by Bret Easton Ellis, to be produced by Lionsgate.
As an enthusiastic admirer, I’m thrilled about the upcoming remake! Known screenwriter Scott Z. Burns is set to pen the script, and it’s clear this won’t be a rehash of the 2000s film with Christian Bale, Willem Dafoe, and Reese Witherspoon. Instead, it seems we’re in for a fresh take on the novel, not the movie from the past decades.
Production on the new movie is expected to start once Guadagnino finishes directing “After the Hunt” with Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield in the lead roles. Keep an eye out for further updates.
