As a long-time fan of Tom Holland’s work, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see him expand his horizons beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe and delve into the world of producing! With his successful partnership with Sony Pictures, it feels like we’re witnessing the birth of a new era in Hollywood.
Tom Holland has signed a producing agreement with Sony Pictures, marking another chapter in his ongoing partnership with the studio, through his recently established production company.
On Thursday, I’m thrilled to share that Sony Pictures has joined forces with me, as part of the Billy17 banner I co-founded with my brother Harry Holland and Will South. This collaboration commences with a project titled “Burnt,” which our team at Billy17 has been working on alongside Rodney Rothman, who’s penning the script for potential stardom by Tom Holland. As of now, the storyline details are under wraps.
Apart from his work, Billy17 is collaborating with Sony in the process of transforming Graeme Simsion’s novel “The Rosie Project” into a movie for TriStar Pictures. Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan, who is associated with Jason Bateman’s production company Aggregate Films, are also involved as producers in this project.
Moreover, it’s known that Billy17 is collaborating with Amy Pascal, the producer of Spider-Man, in bringing Teddy Wayne’s novel “The Winner” to life on screen. There are plans for Tom Holland to take on a role as well.
Tom Holland expressed that Sony Pictures have been an exceptional partner in his life for nearly ten years, making them the ideal collaborator as they embark on launching their production company together. He has long desired to make this leap, and he’s thrilled about the prospect of producing entertaining films that audiences will want to watch again and again. The first project they’re working on is called “Burnt,” an idea that’s been brewing in their minds for several years now. Having Rodney involved as the scriptwriter for their most ambitious project is a dream come true. They’re about to dive headfirst into new ventures, and they can hardly wait to see what the future holds.
Tom Rothman, Sony Pictures’ chief, commented, “Tom, Harry, and Will are brimming with fantastic ideas and are eager to bring them to life. It’s fortunate beyond belief that we get to continue our already highly successful partnership with Tom, and continue our collaborative efforts on the franchises we share, into a new phase that will leverage the group’s producing talents, as well as Tom’s exceptional acting abilities. We are actively developing these new projects, with even more exciting ventures likely in the future.
Subsequently, this agreement arises after Tom Holland’s successful stint portraying Sony in the 2022 movie adaptation of “Uncharted,” which grossed over $400 million at global box offices. Additionally, Holland and Sony collaborated on director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man trilogy, with the last installment, 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” earning $1.9 billion worldwide, making it Sony’s most profitable production to date.
Billy17 is managed by William Morris Endeavor (WME) and Sloane Offer, while Holland is also handled by the same agencies, WME and Sloane Offer, along with Shelter PR.
