Shah Rukh Khan was always charming guy, recalls Manoj Bajpayee; ‘He belonged to a...’

As a lifestyle expert reflecting upon the lives of two iconic figures in Bollywood, I find it fascinating to observe their unique journeys and the lessons they impart through their experiences. Manoj Bajpayee’s reminiscences of his days training under Barry John alongside Shah Rukh Khan provide us with a glimpse into their contrasting paths that led them to the pinnacle of success in the industry.

In his own words, the talented actor Manoj Bajpayee recounted his days training with acting coach Barry John in New Delhi, where he studied alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Looking back, Manoj noted that they didn’t spend a great deal of time together because Shah Rukh pursued different goals and hailed from a unique background. He fondly remembered Shah Rukh as a charismatic individual who was well aware of his special status in the world of showbiz.

In a captivating conversation with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, I, as a lifestyle expert, found myself reflecting on an intriguing question: Did I ever harbor feelings of resentment towards Shah Rukh Khan’s extraordinary stardom, given our parallel beginnings? To clarify, Shah Rukh had always yearned for the limelight, driven by his desires for fame, adoration, and recognition. In contrast, my aspirations were directed elsewhere.

In his own words, the star of “The Family Man” prefers staying out of the limelight and admittedly doesn’t crave being the main focus or having a massive following, content in blending with the background.

When inquired about whether diverse paths impacted his self-assurance, Manoj made it clear that his confidence was primarily undermined by personal setbacks, rather than Shah Rukh’s increased popularity. He gratefully acknowledged acting coach Barry John for being understanding and unbiased, particularly during times when his limited English fluency created difficulties.

Manoj reminisced about the times when Barry frequently cast him in minor parts in English plays alongside performers such as Divya Seth, Rituraj Singh, and Shah Rukh, thereby fostering his acting skills.

Regarding the question if him and the actor portraying The Don had similar timelines, Manoj clarified that while they did know one another, their social spheres and goals were remarkably dissimilar.

He shared that Shah Rukh had always inhabited a unique realm, surrounded by fans, even during their initial days in New Delhi. In contrast, Manoj characterized Shah Rukh as an inherently charming individual who flourished in social settings, whereas he leaned towards a more understated lifestyle.

Regarding his professional life, Manoj’s new project titled “Despatch” was launched on Zee5 on the 13th of December, 2024. In the near future, you can catch him in Sujoy Ghosh’s film “King,” which also stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Abhay Verma.
