As a sneakerhead with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a thrill running down my spine when I see this tantalizing teaser from Hiroshi Fujiwara and Devin Booker! The Nike Book 1 “Python” was already a masterpiece in its own right, so the idea of seeing it infused with fragment design’s signature flair is nothing short of mouthwatering.
Devin Booker and Hiroshi Fujiwara have been actively planning a joint project recently. Over the past few months, Booker has frequently been seen spending time with Fujiwara, fueling speculation about their partnership. Now it seems that they’ve been secretly developing a new shoe collaboration, merging design elements from the Nike Book 1 and fragment designs.
Following the example set by Nike’s first Python book, Fujiwara unveiled a sneak peek of his upcoming shoe on Instagram. The entire upper showcases a python-like texture, contrasted with a pair of white laces. However, unlike the original Python colorway, the Swoosh now features fragment design’s signature blue, and parts of the outsole also bear this hue. To enhance the overall design, black counters are seen on the heel. The shoe is completed by a dual thunderbolt logo from fragment design on the heel counter. Perched atop a white midsole and outsole, the sneaker is finished off. Upon closer inspection, there appears to be a product code number “RSKB98765NIKE65432BOOK/HIROSHI FRAGMENT.
There’s some doubt about whether this sketch illustrates a prototype of the featured shoe model. We don’t know yet if it’s exclusively for Professional Use (PE) or intended for friends and family. Keep an eye out for updates on whether this collaboration will be made available to the public at large.
