ILL-STUDIO Teams Up With NM3 to Create 'Dear World' Time Capsule

As a gamer with a keen interest in both art and technology, I find myself captivated by the audacious endeavor that is the “Dear World” time capsule. Having spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds and alternate realities, this sci-fi dream of a physical installation resonates deeply with my imagination.

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “Together with ILL-STUDIO and Slam Jam, we teamed up with NM3 from Milan to build something extraordinary – a time capsule called ‘Dear World’. It’s almost like stepping into a sci-fi dream! This interactive experience is filled with handpicked images and sounds, creating a “tactile library” that captures the essence of contemporary culture for future generations.

The contents culminate in the work of 37 artists, merging the deeply personal and globally resonant artifacts and ephemera, housed under a sleek, stainless steel frame. The capsule will also include a curated selection of 100 songs, which will play in the gallery as a soundscape, reflecting today’s emotional landscape through a sound system installation by Giorgio Di Salvo.

The mission of ILL-STUDIO’s Attention Deficit Disorder Prosthetic Memory Program (ADDPMP), as explained by its founder Thomas Subreville, is to create a personalized reference guide filled with essential information about various topics, which he refers to as a “subjective encyclopedia of universal knowledge.” Unlike the extensive two-volume resource on numerous subjects, the Time Capsule offers a concise yet comprehensive look at themes like time, life, and legacy that are relevant in today’s world.

The studio stated, “Each piece presented is a personal perspective on the story of human civilization on Earth, mirroring the complex ideas found in the ADDPMP books. These works have been carefully selected due to their symbolic and cultural importance, making them representative images of our current time. They will stand as momentous reminders of our transient present for future generations to discover.

The installation will be securely closed following the duration of the exhibition, and is planned to re-open in the year 2074. Be sure to visit Dear World at Spazio Maiocchi before it’s moved into storage on January 14, 2025.
