As a long-time Marvel fan who has spent countless hours (and dollars) immersed in the intricate tapestry of stories that make up the MCU, I must say that the announcement of “Daredevil: Born Again” has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe consistently delights fans by providing fresh content, whether in theaters or through a Disney+ subscription. In addition to upcoming Marvel films, there are intriguing TV series on the horizon like “Daredevil: Born Again“. Fans eagerly anticipate the return of characters from the initial series, including Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, but might we see additional surprises from the Netflix Marvel shows? Remarks from a studio executive suggest that could be the case.
Information about the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series is still scarce, but excitement among fans has been steadily growing. Fans are eagerly awaiting a continuation of Charlie Cox’s original series (which can be streamed with a Disney+ subscription), and they hope to see more beloved characters from the Netflix universe such as Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones or Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing. In an interview with THR, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum discussed the future of small screen adventures, and when asked if more members of The Defenders might appear in the new Daredevil series, he hinted:
In this interconnected universe, you never quite know where characters might appear next. It’s thrilling to incorporate these stories into our established lore officially. Whether they were part of the lore before or not, it’s now official, and we get to explore these characters further, much like playing with new toys in a toy chest. There are some intriguing twists coming up that I can’t reveal just yet, but for fans of the Netflix series, the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again promises to be an incredibly exciting addition to our roster.
Indeed, surprises! Although Winderbaum was meticulous in safeguarding the mysteries of “Born Again”, he subtly hinted that we could encounter characters from the Netflix Marvel series once more. Now, the anticipation for Daredevil’s return seems unbearably long. Can’t it be March already?
Enthusiasts who have followed the Marvel films and TV series sequentially for years were delighted when characters originating from Netflix series began appearing on both small and large screens. For example, Matt Murdock was seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home, while She-Hulk made an appearance too. Moreover, Wilson Fisk featured in both Hawkeye and Echo. Given this, fans eagerly await the emergence of characters such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Colleen Wing in future projects.
Each Netflix Marvel series offered a distinct flavor, with some depicting violence that was significantly more intense than anything else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during its time. However, when Netflix decided to dismantle the entire universe, there was concern that these characters might vanish forever, missing out on opportunities for crossovers or big-screen appearances.
Previously, it was noted that several characters are desired by fans for a comeback. Some of these actors, such as Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter, have shown enthusiasm for reprising their roles as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage respectively. The ball is now in the court of the studio to decide on future developments.
Daredevil: Born Again will hit Disney+ on March 4th. For now, check the 2025 movie release dates.
