As a devoted fan who has followed Avicii’s meteoric rise and tragic fall, I eagerly await the release of “Avicii – I’m Tim.” The trailer promises to be an emotional rollercoaster, delving into the life of this extraordinary talent from Sweden who touched millions with his music. His battles with addiction and anxiety were heartbreakingly real, yet he continued to create masterpieces that resonated deeply with so many of us.
Netflix has officially dropped the trailer for the upcoming Avicii documentary.
In the latest production called Avicii – I’m Tim, the posthumous account of the renowned DJ/producer is shared in his own voice. This documentary includes personal narrations from the artist, giving fans an inside look at the creator behind the hits like “Levels” and “Hey Brother”. The film chronicles the transformation of a timid Swedish boy into one of the world’s cherished musicians. Despite his untimely death by suicide in April 2018 at Muscat, Oman, aged only 28, this documentary offers fans a heartfelt journey through home videos, personal archives, and traces his career path from its humble beginnings to his heartbreaking demise.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t wait to delve into “The Boy Behind Avicii,” directed by Henrik Burman. This film promises intimate conversations with family, artist companions, and close friends, offering a unique glimpse into the life of the man behind the music. Insights from renowned collaborators like Chris Martin and Aloe Blacc have been teased. Until now, fans have only caught fleeting glimpses of Avicii’s life through excerpts from Måns Mosesson’s book, “Tim — The Official Biography of Avicii.” This book revealed journal entries by the “Wake Me Up” artist, shedding light on his battles with substance abuse and anxiety. He wrote poignantly about his struggles to abstain from alcohol despite doctors’ advice, stating, “I had a hard time accepting never drinking again though strongly suggested from all doctors to wait at least a year before even having a beer. Of course, I didn’t listen to the majority of the doctors, I listened to the couple who said it was OK if I was careful. I was ignorant and naïve and touring the world, still on the never-ending tour — because once you’ve circled it, guess what? You start right back over again. Those days in hospital were the most anxiety and stress-free days I can remember the past six years, those were my true vacations, as depressing as it might sound.
The documentary is set to debut on December 31st, streaming simultaneously with Avicii’s last concert titled “Avicii – My Last Show” from the Ushuaïa venue in Ibiza, on Netflix.
