In a recent disclosure, he revealed an incident where Dharmendra jokingly mentioned that Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol didn’t have romantic involvements with actresses during their careers. He drew a comparison between his own acting career and acknowledged that he was the recipient of considerable female attention from his co-actresses.
In a recent chat on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel, Anil Sharma reminisced about filming the 2007 movie Apne featuring Dharmendra alongside his sons. He shared an amusing behind-the-scenes story that offered him a peek into Dharmendra’s sense of humor.
In the course of our filming, I found myself reminiscing about Dharmendra – a man known for his infectious charm and jovial spirit. During breaks in our vanity van, he would playfully jest with his sons, confiding in Anil that their innocence was unparalleled compared to his own past, which included romances with numerous heroines, a trait unique to him.
He shared, “Dharam ji said, ‘Mere ladke bade seedhe hain. Inka yaar, kuch heroines ke sath chakkar hi nahi chalta kabhi (My sons are too innocent; they don’t have affairs with actresses).’ He then joked, ‘Mujhe dekho, mere time pe sab heroines peeche aati thi (Look at me, during my time, all the heroines were after me).”
Sharma chuckled at the situation and acknowledged that Sunny and Bobby became flustered due to their father’s confessions. As a result, they hurriedly departed from the room. This action only fueled Sharma’s amusement, who further commented that his children are too complex for Hollywood. He jokingly remarked that even if he was blameless, he managed to generate a playful vibe on set.
The movie director praised Dharmendra’s captivating allure, noting that many actresses from his time were keen to collaborate with him. Contrarily, he pointed out that his sons tend to be reserved and unassuming. Despite Sunny Deol’s more glamorous persona, he places a strong emphasis on family values.
