Shaan and his wife Radhika Mukherji confirm ‘no damage’ hours after terrifying firing incident in their building; ‘It was a close call…’

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of being prepared for any eventuality. The bravery and calmness displayed by Shaan, Radhika Mukherji, and their family in the face of such a terrifying ordeal is truly commendable.

In an unexpected turn of events, a fire erupted at the Fortune Enclave building in Bandra, Mumbai, where singer Shaan resides. Remarkably, this blaze occurred on the 7th floor, but during that time, Shaan and his wife Radhika Mukherji were safe on their home located on the 11th floor. In a recent conversation, they shared their experience of this harrowing event.

According to Shaan, a fire occurred on the seventh floor at approximately 12:30 am. Since we were sound asleep, we were awakened around 1 am. The majority of people in the building, including those residing on the floors below the seventh, had evacuated. We were instructed to go to the rooftop, but unfortunately, it was locked and the smoke was intensifying. As a result, we sought shelter at our neighbor, Mrs. Kazi’s residence, which was located on the 14th floor. Tragically, they too were trapped. We remained there for approximately 40 minutes until firefighters arrived and escorted us down to safety.

According to an official report, four fire trucks and other fire-suppression vehicles quickly responded to the scene and managed to put out the blaze following about two and a half hours of intense effort. The musician went on to explain that the 7th floor had been completely destroyed by the fire, while both the 6th and 8th floors sustained partial damage. However, the singer was reassuring that the majority of the building remained undamaged and their residence was left untouched.

In the course of the conversation, it came to light that Shaan’s spouse, Radhika Mukherji, mentioned that their younger child, Maahi, was absent at the time, while their older son, Soham, woke them up. She pointed out that in addition to themselves, they needed to save their two household staff members and two pets as well.

In such scenarios, fear is unavoidable, but we made every effort to stay updated and ready as much as we could, she explained. To lessen the effects of smoke, they turned off all power sources and covered their faces with wet garments. Regrettably, they couldn’t proceed beyond the 15th floor due to the intense smoke while attempting to reach higher levels.

Radhika confessed she was panicking, but Shaan and Soham remained composed and dialed the number for the fire department. Luckily, they were informed that firefighters were already at the scene. Additionally, Radhika thanked Ashish Shelar from Khar police station, along with the fire brigade team, for their remarkable work in handling the situation.

She continued, “The outcome was touch-and-go, but they managed to quickly resolve the issue.” Additionally, she expressed gratitude as their house remained unscathed by both smoke and fire, a blessing from above.
