As I initially contemplated skipping the festivities this year, I shared that my mom would be preparing some of my father’s cherished dishes for a select gathering of dear ones. I expressed it as, “Mom will whip up his beloved dishes for a tight-knit circle.” This Christmas, we opt to celebrate in honor of him, finding solace in our togetherness during this trying season.
In simple terms, Malaika shared that her father’s passing came as an unexpected shock, and discussed how individuals deal with sorrow in different ways. She expressed heartfelt appreciation for her mother’s support, describing her as an incredibly strong figure who provides her with resilience during this difficult time.
Despite her efforts to get back to work, she openly acknowledged that it was initially difficult, particularly in maintaining a strong facade around others. Eventually, she began working again when she felt prepared, understanding that dealing with such a deep loss is something that one can never completely overcome.
