As a longtime fan of Marvel movies and TV shows, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the news that Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Daredevil in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday! Ever since Matt Murdock/Daredevil made his debut on our screens back in 2015, he has quickly become one of my favorite characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the unfortunate cancellation of Daredevil in 2018, it’s heartening to see that Charlie Cox and his character remain so popular among fans.
I have fond memories of waiting eagerly for each new episode of Daredevil, marveling at Charlie’s exceptional portrayal of the blind lawyer-by-day, crime-fighting vigilante-by-night. And when I saw him in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was a true fan moment that brought tears to my eyes! Now, with Daredevil set to join The Avengers’ ranks, I can barely contain my excitement for what’s to come.
I must admit that the possibility of seeing Daredevil alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has been a dream of mine since the days when fans were hoping to see him and the rest of the Defenders appear in Avengers: Endgame. So, to finally see this dream becoming a reality feels surreal.
As for what role Daredevil might serve in the Avengers, I believe he could bring a unique perspective to the team as an everyman character who keeps things grounded. With the Avengers organization no longer existing in the MCU following Avengers: Endgame, it will be fascinating to see how Daredevil fits into this new roster of heroes.
Now, let me leave you with a little humor to lighten the mood – I can only imagine the hilarious banter between Daredevil and Captain America when they find out that they both have a thing for secret identities! Bring on Avengers: Doomsday!
It appears that Charlie Cox, who has played the beloved character Daredevil since 2015, could potentially be making an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday. This speculation arises due to a recent workout photo shared by the actor. Despite the series ending in 2018, both Cox and Daredevil have maintained their popularity. The actor reprised his role as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, leading to a string of appearances that will conclude in Daredevil: Born Again. With this, the character’s involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could expand significantly, potentially even earning him a spot among The Avengers.
DFRNT Health & Fitness posted a picture on Instagram, showing Charlie Cox and his wife at an Australian gym. The caption stated that “Charlie is currently preparing for his part as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the upcoming Marvel Avengers movie.” This suggests that Charlie Cox might reappear as Daredevil in either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars,” although neither Marvel Studios nor Disney have officially confirmed his participation in any future Avengers film.
It’s no surprise that The Man Without Fear is included in Avengers: Doomsday, given that Daredevil appears to be the character with the most regular appearances in the Multiverse Saga. After his comeback in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, he made subsequent appearances in 2022’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, 2024’s Echo, and 2025’s Daredevil: Born Again. Moreover, Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Daredevil in the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, airing before Born Again. In the next four years, Daredevil is set to appear in a total of five projects, including concept art for California Adventure’s Avengers: Infinity Defense ride. Clearly, Marvel has significant plans for Daredevil.
Daredevil’s Potential Role in ‘The Avengers’ Sequels
It’s quite plausible that Charlie Cox could be gearing up for the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again,” which has been announced as being in development. However, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he showed up in “Avengers: Doomsday” before then. Fans had hoped to see Daredevil and the Defenders join forces with the Avengers during the final battle in “Avengers: Endgame,” but it appears the separation between Marvel Studios and Marvel Television hindered that from occurring. Now, with the studio potentially reuniting Daredevil with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, fans might finally get the team-up they’ve been anticipating for quite some time.
The question arises as to the function that Daredevil plays within the Avengers. Given his usual connection with street crime, we wonder what he can contribute to the guardians of Earth. While he may not have conventional superpowers, Daredevil could provide the same grounding influence to the new Avengers that Hawkeye did for the original team. In other words, Daredevil is an ordinary individual who brings a touch of reality to this superhero group.
Although the Avengers as an organization no longer exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as hinted at in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and will be further explored in “Captain America: Brave New World”, the identity of the new Avengers is yet to be determined. However, Daredevil proves to be a valuable potential member.
