As a longtime fan of Tim Allen’s comedic genius, I can hardly contain my excitement for ABC’s new comedy series “Shifting Gears”! Having grown up watching him shine in classics like “Home Improvement” and more recently, “Last Man Standing,” it’s heartwarming to see him back on the network that launched his career.
The premise of a fractured family dynamic with Allen as the head of the household is intriguing, and I’m eagerly anticipating Kat Dennings‘ portrayal of his estranged daughter. The addition of Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis as her children brings a fresh energy to the mix.
I must admit that I’ve always had a soft spot for classic cars, so having the story revolve around a restoration business is an added bonus. With Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and Seann William Scott joining the cast, I have no doubt that their chemistry will create some hilarious moments.
The show’s pedigree, with Michelle Nader as showrunner and a talented team of producers behind it, promises a well-crafted and entertaining series. I can’t wait to see what Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully have in store for us in the pilot episode.
Now, let me share a little joke that comes to mind: Why don’t Tim Allen’s cars ever get lost? Because they always find their way back home! I can only hope that “Shifting Gears” will be just as unforgettable and enjoyable as the punchline of my joke.
ABC unveiled a sneak peek at their upcoming comedy series titled “Shifting Gears“, where Tim Allen reprises his role as a father figure, but this time leading a less-than-united family unit.
Beginning January 8th, the story revolves around Matt, portrayed by Allen, and his long-separated adult daughter Riley, played by Kat Dennings. When Riley encounters tough times, she returns to live with her children, Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis, at her family home, along with the classic Pontiac GTO she had previously taken from her father.
In this rephrased version, I’ve aimed to make the sentence more conversational while maintaining its original meaning.
After a break, Allen is coming back to ABC, where he previously spearheaded one of the ’90s most successful sitcoms, “Home Improvement”, and starred in six seasons of “Last Man Standing” for them (the series later moved to Fox for an additional three seasons). In July, ABC officially commissioned a series titled “Shifting Gears“.
The series’ ensemble features Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and Seann William Scott, who portray workers at Matt’s vintage automobile repair enterprise.
Shifting Gears hails from 20th Television. Michelle Nader (2 Broke Girls, Dollface) takes on the role as showrunner and executive produces alongside Allen, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, John Pasquin, Jim Patterson, Bob Daily and John Amodeo. Dennings is also a producer. Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully, who initially developed the show but left when it was greenlit for series production, serve as executive producers of the pilot episode.
