In her contemplation of Josh seemingly coming back, Kat uncovers the truth that Monte Leburne (Marc Warren), who admitted to killing her father Clint, wasn’t the true culprit. Although it’s true that Josh does have deep affection for Kat and might not have wanted to leave her back then, it’s evident there are hidden reasons for his disappearance that go beyond what he has disclosed.

What Does Titus’ Operation Have to Do With Josh?

Similar to how Kat stumbled upon Josh’s profile on a dating platform, women such as Dana (Lisa Faulkner) and Brendan’s mother also found his profile. Interestingly enough, Josh wasn’t aware of the profile or involved in its creation. Unbeknownst to him, his likeness was being exploited in a catfishing scam masterminded by Titus (Steve Pemberton) and his associates. This elaborate scheme was being run from a high-end dog breeding farm, where the cunning businessman was using Josh’s image to swindle money from vulnerable, affluent individuals.

In one of the numerous images he utilized, Titus forced individuals to empty their bank accounts prior to being eliminated. Regrettably, on this occasion, a detective intervened, causing Titus’ operation to go up in flames before his capture.

Who Actually Killed Clint?

As a seasoned moviegoer with decades of film-watching under my belt, I can confidently say that this plot twist is reminiscent of the classic “reunited and it feels so good” trope, but with a darker turn. The storyline seems to follow the typical pattern of two lovers reuniting after a long separation, only to unravel a shocking truth that shatters their world. However, what sets this apart is the element of betrayal, as the beloved character Josh turns out to be involved in the death of Kat’s father. It’s always intriguing when a story takes an unexpected turn and exposes the depths to which people will go to hide their secrets, especially when those secrets involve the ones we hold dear. This plot twist would certainly keep audiences on the edge of their seats, as they grapple with the question of whether Josh was truly responsible for Kat’s father’s death or if there is more to the story. Overall, it’s a testament to the power of storytelling and the ability of a well-crafted plot twist to captivate an audience and keep them guessing until the very end.

One evening, as Kat walked home, her friend Mary Malone (Aqua) stumbled upon evidence that Clint was involved in an affair with a man named Cyril Nri (Parker). Fearing his family’s reaction, Clint visited Aqua at her residence to offer an explanation. In concern for Clint’s actions, Aqua contacted Josh who was en route to her place. Unaware to all parties, Richard Armitage’s character (Stagger) was also heading there as Clint’s behavior seemed unusual when he asked Stagger for Aqua’s address.

Upon stepping into Aqua’s home, Clint suddenly went berserk and started assaulting her. The altercation intensified right when Josh walked in. In a bid to stop Clint, he seized the knife Clint was brandishing, unfortunately thrusting it into Clint’s torso instead. At that critical juncture, Stagger stumbled upon the scene. Recognizing his errors, Clint implored that no law enforcement be summoned and that the incident remain concealed from Kat. Consequently, Stagger and Josh paid a visit to Monte in prison and offered him a bribe to claim responsibility for Clint’s demise. Since he was already serving a life sentence for other offenses, they thought it was an ideal way to wrap up the case.

In the concluding scenes of the show, it’s apparent that although deeply saddened, Kat seems to have forgiven Josh for taking her father’s life.
