3 years following the debut of Pokemon Sword and Shield, we saw Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in 2022. Given this pattern, it’s reasonable to anticipate a new mainline Pokemon game will come out this year.
Although Pokemon Legends: Z-A has been confirmed for release in 2025, it’s not part of the main series, but rather a massive spin-off similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. With the upcoming announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, we might get a new mainline Pokemon game this year instead.
According to well-known Pokemon insider Riddler_Khu, as posted on X platform, this theory suggests that a new, previously unannounced project for 2024 will soon be released on the upcoming next-generation Nintendo console.
As per @Riddler_Khu’s report, it appears that there are two Pokemon developments underway at the moment, referred to as Ikkaku and Gaia respectively. The Pokemon insider also posted an image of a dolphin, which could hint towards a potential remake of Pokemon Black and White.
It appears that the third Pokémon project won’t be a core series game or a long-awaited Generation 10, as some fans anticipated.
Lately, Nintendo and Game Freak have been busy remaking various games from the Pokémon series. Games like Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, along with Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, are instances of past mainline titles being reimagined by Game Freak.
As a long-time fan of the Pokémon franchise, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement at the possibility of a new generation being released soon. However, having waited patiently for each new installment since I first picked up my Game Boy and Red Version back in 1996, I must admit that I have learned to temper my expectations. The rumors swirling around Gen 10 suggest that it might not be coming this year but rather will be announced this year with a release date set for next year, coinciding perfectly with Pokémon’s 20th anniversary. While this news may disappoint some fans who were hoping for an immediate return to the world of Pikachu and friends, I find myself feeling hopeful that the wait will be worth it. After all, I have spent countless hours catching, battling, and training my beloved Pokémon over the years, and I can only imagine what new creatures and challenges await me in Generation 10. Whether or not these rumors prove to be true, one thing is certain: as a lifelong fan of this iconic franchise, I will continue to eagerly anticipate each new installment and cherish the memories I have made along the way.
Despite the fact that @Riddler_Khu’s predictions about Pokemon leaks last year were largely inaccurate, many Pokemon enthusiasts on Reddit have reservations about their reliability. Yet, some fans remain optimistic that a new Pokemon game might be released this year.
The games Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were both appealing and bold, yet the hardware constraints of the initial Nintendo Switch had an impact on their performance issues and glitches.
Since it’s been verified that the new Switch 2 supports playing older games, giving the newly announced Pokémon Scarlet and Violet another try before Gen 10 arrives might be enjoyable.
