As a die-hard One Piece fan who has been following this epic saga since its early days, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon learning that the Netflix live-action series might never touch upon the intriguing revelation about Red-Haired Shanks’ twin brother.
I remember when I first started watching One Piece, I was like a ship without a compass, sailing through an ocean of pirate adventures, eagerly awaiting each new episode to unfold. Over the years, I have grown to love and appreciate the depth and complexity that Eiichiro Oda has woven into this story. The latest twist about Shanks’ twin brother is just another testament to the masterful storytelling in One Piece.
The idea of a twin brother for one of the most enigmatic characters in the series has me scratching my head, trying to piece together what it means for the overall narrative. I have spent countless hours theorizing about this new development with fellow fans, and it’s a topic that never fails to ignite our collective imagination.
I can only hope that someday, somehow, this fascinating twist will find its way into the live-action adaptation. But until then, I’ll just have to settle for imagining Mackenyu (Zoro) and his co-stars discussing the latest manga chapters in between takes on set.
On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder if they’ll ever introduce a character who looks like Shanks but with a different hair color… maybe a blond brother? Now that would be something to see!
🚨 Caution: The ensuing details may reveal spoilers from the most recent editions of the One Piece manga. Keep up with the anime and live-action adaptations on Netflix, and proceed with reading at your own peril! 💣
2025 TV schedule kickoff brings us one step closer to the premiere of One Piece Season 2 on Netflix. While the prospect of this excites me, I can’t help but be captivated by the recent development in the manga. The series has just disclosed a significant detail about the iconic pirate Red-Haired Shanks, and its magnitude leaves me disappointed that the live-action adaptation probably won’t get to explore it.
Despite my excitement over Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece, it’s hard not to remember that, even if this show becomes the most popular streaming series ever, it probably won’t match the number of episodes in the anime. That means many of the fantastic events that occur later on may never be portrayed, and although I might not mind if they don’t delve into Fishman Island, the thought of missing out on that Shanks spoiler is a bitter pill to swallow.
One Piece Revealed Shanks Has A Twin Brother
From the beginning of “One Piece”, Shanks has been present as Luffy’s guide and the unintended donor of the Devil Fruit that granted him powers. Though his appearances in the anime are infrequent, he serves as one of Luffy’s beacons, teaching him the true essence of piracy. Known as one of the most powerful pirates within the series’ universe, recent developments in the Elbaf arc have introduced a twist: Shanks has a twin brother.
People have long speculated that something like this could be plausible, considering certain enigmatic moments involving Shanks that didn’t seem consistent with his character. One such instance is when Shanks interacted with the leaders of the World Government, which seems unusual given his role as one of the Four Emperors, who wield power over a part of the sea in defiance of the government.
Speaking of which, could you enlighten me about this twin character and whether he matches Shanks in power? Frankly, I find myself curious about him more than I am about the live-action adaptation’s portrayal of Chopper. Regrettably, given the nature of One Piece, it seems we may need to wait a while before learning about this twin and his role in the narrative.
Why I’m Mad The Netflix Live-Action Series Will Likely Never Address This
I’ve come to terms, for the most part, with the fact that unless Netflix skips many stories, the popular anime series One Piece will likely never adapt more recent arcs like Dressrosa, even though Mackenyu, who plays Zoro, considers it his favorite. However, the revelation that Shanks has a twin is much harder to accept because it seems we might have learned early on in the story that this detail was significant, and the audience had no idea about it at all.
The live-action version has subtly hinted at future occurrences, unlike the anime, by introducing characters like Warlord Jimbei who play significant roles later on in “One Piece”. However, I hope we might get similar hints regarding Shanks’ twin in the new series. But considering it’s a recent development and still far along in the storyline, it seems unlikely that it will be included in the adaptation at this stage. Unless manga creator Eiichiro Oda shared some insights about it during his latest visit to the set, we probably won’t see any hints of Shanks’ twin in the upcoming show.
As a devoted fan of anime and manga for as long as I can remember, I wholeheartedly endorse immersing oneself in the captivating world of “One Piece” during this waiting period for its upcoming live-action season on Netflix. Having followed this series since its inception, I can confidently say that it offers an unparalleled experience that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, making it a perfect choice for those seeking to invest substantial time in a high-quality production.
