Joe Alwyn is briefly looking back on his breakup from Taylor Swift.
In a recent interview with The Guardian on Sunday, the renowned Brutalist actor was questioned about his past six-year romance with Swift, whom he had been dating.
Or, more casually:
During an interview with The Guardian this weekend, the famous Brutalist actor discussed his long-term relationship with Swift, which lasted over six years.
When asked if he worried that his relationship with Swift might overshadow his career, Alwyn responded by saying, “I’ve always aimed to concentrate on managing what I can influence. From the very start, I’ve tried to prioritize aspects that matter most to me, such as friends, family, and work. Anything beyond that, the noise or distractions, I believe many people in the public eye try to disregard.
He went on to say, “If you don’t control it and allow other things to influence you, affecting your thoughts and actions, you’re essentially living based on external factors rather than your inner self. And that can lead to quite a precarious situation.
Alwyn highlighted that he has strong family bonds and dear friends, along with genuine belongings which have been instrumental in keeping him grounded. In other words, he added, they are located in a separate yet adjacent space.
When someone questioned if Alwyn was eager to leave his past relationship behind, Alwyn pointed out that indeed he has moved on, but maybe the public hasn’t noticed. He explained, “That’s something others should deal with.” He added, “The topic we’re discussing is from a time long gone in my personal life. So it’s for others to ponder. That’s how I feel about it.
In the course of their relationship, Swift astounded fans when she disclosed that the enigmatic songwriter credited on her album “folklore” as William Bowery was actually Alwyn. Alwyn contributed to writing a few songs for “folklore,” such as “exile” and “betty,” and also shares writing credits on its sequel, “Evermore.
The folklore album earned three Grammys, consequently awarding Alwyn with Grammys as well. Alwyn expressed that the lockdown period was filled with unexpected moments, which made it particularly memorable. “That wasn’t something I would have anticipated,” he added. He humorously suggested that securing a Grammy now paves the way for him to effortlessly claim an Emmy, Oscar, and Tony to achieve EGOT status.
A year after their breakup, Alwyn finally spoke up about it during an interview with The Sunday Times Style Magazine. When asked about his former relationship, which lasted over six and a half years, he expressed, “I believe people can relate to the challenges that arise from ending a deep, long-term, dedicated relationship. It’s a tough process. What makes this situation unique is that just one week later, it became public knowledge, allowing others to pass judgment.
Following the announcement of their separation, the actor described his personal experience as being thrust into the “unfathomably real world” of gossip magazines, online platforms, and news outlets. There, he said, it was subjected to intense scrutiny, speculation, and distortion far beyond its original form.
In essence, there will always be a difference between what we truly understand and what we express,” he clarified. “I’ve come to terms with this discrepancy.
Alwyn has been careful about sharing personal details, and he plans to maintain his privacy: “I’ve never felt the need to turn my private life into something commercial, and I don’t see any reason to start doing that now. To be honest, it’s been over a year since I last spoke about this, and I’m really grateful for where I am in my life – both professionally and personally. I’m feeling great.
Taylor Swift has been romantically linked with NFL player Travis Kelce from the Kansas City Chiefs. They have been spotted together at his games and were part of the celebrations on the field following their team’s Super Bowl victory last year. Last year, Swift won the award for video of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards and publicly acknowledged Kelce’s support. In a surprising turn of events, Kelce made an appearance during Taylor’s Eras Tour in London. During her performance at London’s Wembley Stadium, Taylor introduced her boyfriend on stage during “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.
In conversations about their relationship, Kelce expressed that although Swift constantly attracts media attention, he feels “proud” of their bond and manages to preserve privacy while being open about their couple status. He stated, “I want to keep things private, but I’m not here to hide anything. That’s my girl – you understand what I mean? That’s my lady. I’m proud of that, so I’m not trying to figure out how to conceal it. What you don’t want is for everyone to have access to your personal life and comment on it, knowing that whatever she does will make headlines.
