Were the Wolves in Nosferatu Real? Yes, and They Nearly Attacked Nicholas Hoult

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: Even though wild animals can be tamed to some extent, they’re fundamentally untamed creatures with innate tendencies for stalking, hunting, and killing. Actor Nicholas Hoult found that out firsthand during filming of Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, currently gracing theaters near you everywhere.

During a recent visit on Late Night with Seth Meyers (watch the full conversation here), Hoult shared an interesting story. I managed to escape, but then came the command, “Cut! Cut! Cut!” Rob shouted, pointing at me with disapproval. “Sorry, that silly face didn’t work,” he added.

Hoult added: “My expression [seemed unusual] and I responded, ‘Well, that’s not ideal, but just to clarify, that was genuine fear.’ As I pondered, I realized I hadn’t inquired about the consequences if the dogs reached me. I thought, ‘Oh, it’s safe, we’re only acting here.’ But at that instant, my thoughts raced, ‘I wonder what they would do if I can’t escape through the window. What are their instructions then?’
