As an ardent movie enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly pondering: Who will be the next to slip into the tuxedo and take on the iconic role of James Bond? This question is creating quite a buzz in the realm of action-packed blockbusters. However, one actor we can cross off our list is the talented Phil Dunster, who stole hearts as the charming yet egotistical footballer Jamie Tartt in the beloved sports comedy series. Although discussions between his agents and the James Bond producers did occur, it seems that the role is not in his future, as he’s been given a firm “no.
In our interaction, one representative found themselves unable to continue the discussion as they politely declined further engagement.
According to a tough disclosure from Dunster (through Daily Express), this at least eliminates one promising British and Irish actor as a candidate for the James Bond role. It appears that every other name even vaguely recognized is being considered. Although Phil Dunster, known for shows like ‘The Devil’s Hour’ and ‘Humans’, could do justice to the 007 role, it seems that he doesn’t align with the vision for the franchise in its future development.
A New James Bond Favorite Was Recently Crowned
Recently, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, famous for his role in “Kraven the Hunter” and “Bullet Train,” has been a top contender to play James Bond. Many believe that he would excel at portraying Bond, with his martini-sipping and villain-slaying skills being highly praised. However, after the disappointing critical and commercial performance of Taylor-Johnson’s Marvel film, and a prediction by THR, another name has risen as the bookmakers’ favorite for the role.
As a die-hard film fan, I’ve got some exciting news to share! It seems like the tides are turning in the race for who will be the next James Bond, following the planned reboot. According to recent updates, Josh O’Connor from The Crown and Challengers is now the frontrunner with odds of 1/1 in his favor. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was once a top contender, has slipped to third place at 2/1, while Theo James from The Gentlemen has moved up to second place at 6/4. Other notable names on the list include Paul Mescal from Gladiator 2 and Callum Turner from Fantastic Beasts. Sadly, despite persistent fan support, Henry Cavill, who played Man of Steel, appears to be slipping further down the potential Bond list as time goes by.
Daniel Craig, who initially assumed the role of James Bond in the 2006 revival “Casino Royale”, bid farewell to the iconic character in a dramatic manner through “No Time to Die” in 2021. As of now, it’s unclear how longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson intend to resurrect the popular action series, but it seems plausible that they might opt for a fresh start. This suggests that a relatively new actor could potentially take on the leading role, with Josh O’Connor appearing to meet several of the requirements previously specified by Broccoli and Wilson towards the end of last year. For now, we must remain patient, but at least one name can be ruled out from the continually expanding list of potential candidates.
