In January 30th, the last season of the touching and sometimes sad Netflix comedy Mo, which explores immigrant life in America through the eyes of a stateless Palestinian refugee named Mo Najjar (portrayed by Mo Amer), will conclude Mo’s journey.
In the recently released trailer for the second season, we find the main character, portrayed by Amer and jointly created with Ramy Youssef, attempting to re-enter the United States from Mexico following a difficult encounter with dangerous coyotes at the end of season one in 2022. He’s continuing his struggle to obtain U.S. citizenship as a means of escaping the hardships faced by an undocumented immigrant in Texas, which only intensifies due to additional complications from asylum applications, financial hustles needed to support his family, and a rival courting his girlfriend.
Additionally, there’s the risk of being sent back after unsuccessfully trying to enter Texas through the border. At one point in the trailer preview, Mo, portrayed by Omar Elba, is met with harsh words from his brother, Sameer Najjar, who says, “You’re broke, you don’t have a job and your life is miserable. I should give you a good slap right now, buddy.
And there’s more face slaps for Mo in the trailer for the A24 series.
As a gamer, I find myself navigating the intricate landscapes of two distinct cultures, mastering three unique languages, and dodging plenty of obstacles along the way. In this story, I’m Mo Najjar, a Palestinian on a quest for U.S. citizenship. The second season throws me into a challenging situation: stranded at the border with my family’s asylum hearing approaching, I need every ounce of wit and charisma to make it back to Houston in time. However, being stateless and without a passport only adds to the difficulty. Unbeknownst to me, this homeward journey is merely the beginning of a series of trials, and there’s a newcomer ready to challenge my love for Maria and my dream of returning to Palestine.
In the second series of “Mo”, we see the return of Teresa Ruiz as Maria and Farah Bsieso as Yusra. Additionally, some fresh faces join the cast as guest stars: Hannibal Buress, Liza Koshy, Matt Rife, Ralph Barbosa, and Slim Thug.
