Marvel Snap starts a new reign of terror with the Dark Avengers season

  • Marvel Snap is turning to the side of evil with the new Dark Avengers-themed season
  • Norman Osborn’s band of villains masquerades as the heroes we all know and love
  • Grab the Iron Patriot, Victoria Hand, Bullseye, Moonstone and Ares to round out your roster

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got to say, the Marvel Snap universe is bustling with some massive changes this year! It’s not just Avengers-level big, it’s bigger! The creators of this popular card battler have decided to tread on the darker side and introduced an array of new cards inspired by the ominous Dark Reign era in Marvel history.

For those unacquainted, Dark Reign was a comic book series that followed the popular storyline of Civil War. In this continuation, the iconic character Norman Osborn seized control of the remains of S.H.I.E.L.D., which he rebranded as H.A.M.M.E.R., and established his own Avengers team, with wicked characters impersonating the heroes we’re familiar with.

In this season, you’ll have the opportunity to play characters such as Norma Osborn as Iron Patriot with a flag, Victoria Hand serving as second-in-command (Jan 7th), sharpshooter Bullseye (Jan 21st), therapist-turned-villain Moonstone (Jan 14th) and the powerful Ares (Jan 28th). Be mindful when placing him near the Sentry to avoid tearing him. Additionally, you’ll be introduced to a new setting, Asgard Under Siege, which depicts Thor’s home under attack by Earth’s invading forces.

A shadow grows

For enthusiasts, they’ll find delight in recognizing familiar and seemingly long-absent characters resurfacing in Marvel Snap. For everyone else, the diverse array of abilities promises to be intriguing. Take Victoria Hand for instance, who boosts the power of cards in hand by 2, while Norman Osborn acquires a random 4, 5, or 6-cost card upon play. If you maintain your lead at the location he’s stationed by the next turn, that card’s cost is reduced by 4, allowing for an even stronger assertion of victory.

For additional items available, you can grab a new card for Daken featuring him disguised as his father, Wolverine, along with various other cosmetics to highlight your villainous ties. Additionally, the much-loved Marvel Rivals character Galacta will make her debut in this season’s roster!
