At the 2025 Golden Globes held last Sunday, Ali Wong emerged as one of the major winners. Her Netflix stand-up special, titled “Single Lady,” earned her a trophy. Throughout her triumphant moment, she exuded grace and beauty. However, some observant fans couldn’t help but notice that her partner, Bill Hader, was not present at this year’s event. In contrast, he accompanied her at the Globes ceremony last year when she won for her work in “Beef.” This absence has left many fans curious about the status of their comedy power couple and if they are still together after Hader’s unexpected absence from this year’s event.
Fortunately, it appears any doubts about this couple can now be dismissed. Contrary to break-up rumors, reports suggest they are still a couple, although Bill Hader was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to ill health. A representative for Hader clarified that he wasn’t feeling well and was advised to stay home, as stated in an interview with People magazine.
Bill had to skip the Globes event because an old eye problem worsened, prompting his doctor’s recommendation for him to rest at home instead. Despite this, Bill and Ali remain a couple.
Following the reported separation of Hader from Anna Kendrick and Ali Wong, as well as the divorce of Ali Wong’s husband, Justin Hakuta, they both started a romantic relationship.
At first, they became acquainted through common acquaintances, and in one of her stand-up performances, Wong disclosed that Hader had been persistent in his pursuit, sending her bouquets while she was on her comedy tour. Last year at the Golden Globes, they were seen together, sharing a kiss when Wong received an award. He also escorted her to the Emmys last year.
Although the actor from “Trainwreck” skipping a public awards ceremony doesn’t necessarily indicate problems in their relationship, fans appear quite interested in this couple and are hopeful about their future together.
As a fan, I find them both incredibly funny, yet they’ve also dabbled in more serious roles, demonstrating their versatile skills. They seem destined for each other, and I eagerly anticipate the romantic projects they might collaborate on. It feels like their off-screen chemistry could truly transform into captivating on-screen magic.
In essence, it appears that their absence from the Golden Globes was merely a matter of unfortunate scheduling, and they remain a couple. Throughout their relationship, they’ve been incredibly supportive of each other, and perhaps Hader was disappointed to have missed the moment. Here’s hoping that the actor recovers soon, allowing us to enjoy more heartwarming moments from this adored pair. With Wong’s “Single Lady” special garnering praise, let’s look forward to more of their shared success.
