Chateau Marmont, Sunset Tower Offer Refuge to Firefighters and Angelenos Amid L.A. Fires

The renowned hotels, Chateau Marmont and Sunset Tower, famous for hosting glamorous dinners and award ceremonies, have decided to contribute to the ongoing effort in aiding firefighters and those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.

Hey there fellow gamers! Just wanted to share some heartwarming news. Over the next week, I’m extending an invitation to our brave firefighters and creative industry union members to enjoy a well-deserved stay at my private cottages nestled within Chateau Marmont. These cozy abodes, which start at $1,165 per night, sit amidst a lush garden courtyard that overlooks our pool.

This hotel has always been a strong advocate for its employees, and in 2022, we took a significant step forward by ratifying a landmark union contract. Among the benefits we’ve introduced are a 25 percent wage increase for returning non-tipped workers, free family health insurance for those working at least 60 hours per month, and free legal services for immigration, consumer, and tenant issues.

Established in the 1930s, these nine “quaint Craftsman-style houses” are arranged around a beautifully landscaped courtyard near a pool that can be accessed via a private street entrance, as described on Chateau’s website. They offer living spaces ranging from 600 to 700 square feet, featuring a master suite, kitchen, full bathroom, and a spacious living area with hardwood floors. These individual houses were purchased by the Chateau Marmont in the 1940s.

The Chateau Marmont hotel recently played host to W magazine’s yearly Best Performances event that coincides with the Golden Globes, and simultaneously, its Bar Marmont served as the venue for Brunello Cucinelli’s second consecutive gathering.

Just a short distance along the boulevard, Sunset Tower is offering shelter to evacuees and those displaced by the Palisades and Eaton fires as well.

Jeff Klein, owner of Sunset Tower, shared with Vanity Fair, “Our aim is to offer a momentary respite from the pressures and worries people are facing. We do this by providing hospitality, a trendy setting, a refreshing drink, some live music, and more, to help them relax… For an hour or two, they can step down to the lobby bar or Tower Bar, enjoy dinner, but it doesn’t eliminate all their troubles.

Reportedly, prestigious hotels such as Beverly Hills Hotel, Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria, and Peninsula are fully booked, according to Vanity Fair. Additionally, other Los Angeles hotels like Kimpton La Peer Hotel, Shutters on the Beach, Mondrian Hotels, and Hoxton Downtown L.A. have provided reduced rates for those impacted by the wildfires.

So far, wildfires in Los Angeles have scorched approximately 35 square miles of land and annihilated more than a dozen buildings, as reported by Cal Fire. Additionally, at least eleven individuals have lost their lives due to these fires.
