Jamie Foxx & Robert De Niro Movie ‘Tin Soldier’ Will Be Released After All

With the release of his new spy film titled “Alarum“, Scott Eastwood continues to deliver action-packed movies filled with gunfire. Previously, he was in the Los Angeles crime drama “1992“, where he attempted a daring heist during the early ’90s Watts riots alongside the late Ray Liotta. You might recognize him from some of the entertaining “Fast & Furious” films or war movies like the critically acclaimed “Fury“. Upcoming projects include another war film, the eagerly awaited “Tin Soldier“, which boasts a star-studded cast that includes Robert De Niro, Jamie Foxx, Rita Ora, John Leguizamo, Shamier Anderson, and others. Filming mainly took place in Greece two years ago, but updates on the movie have been scarce until recently. While promoting “Alarum“, MovieWeb had a chance to speak with Eastwood about the current status of “Tin Soldier“.

Eastwood mentioned that the film market has been less than ideal over the past year and a half to two years, but he believes it’s starting to improve or at least should. He explained that selling movies hasn’t been great as indicated by the struggle to find the best audience for ‘Tin Soldier’, a significant production they were trying to distribute.

Eastwood also reflected on his experience and teased his Tin Soldier role:

The process was chaotic, but the character is interesting. You see, he’s the one they must approach because he has the knowledge necessary to infiltrate this secretive cult, which resembles a military organization. However, the government aims to dismantle it, so they return for him – a man who has previous experience with this group. That role is mine.

‘Tin Soldier’ Is a Military Thriller from a Hit Director

As per the plot summary, the movie “Tin Soldier” centers around a character named The Bokushi (Foxx), who gathers hundreds of veterans to him with the enticement of safety and significance. With his devoted followers, all military-trained, he has constructed an invincible stronghold and accumulated a vast collection of weapons.

Following numerous unsuccessful infiltration efforts, I, as a former military operative named Emmanuel Ashburn, was tasked by the government to enlist the aid of Nash Cavanaugh – a seasoned ex-special forces operative and one-time devotee of The Bokushi. Recognizing this opportunity for retribution, Nash consented to leverage his fragile past and intimate understanding of the elusive leader, with the ultimate goal of avenging the man who stripped him of everything, including the love of his life.

In 2022, Brad Furman, who previously worked with Johnny Depp in “City of Lies” and Matthew McConaughey in “The Lincoln Lawyer,” returns to work with John Leguizamo in the movie “Tin Soldier.” Furman expressed his gratitude for being part of this project, calling it an ambitious, significant, and deeply personal endeavor. The film features breathtaking landscapes and grand sets designed for cinematic impact. It’s an original tale focusing on hardship, sacrifice, and the triumph of love and acceptance. Working with such a talented cast is more than just an honor for Furman. He noted that each actor has brought unique inspiration to their roles, making this collaboration extraordinary. He hopes that audiences worldwide will find the film equally captivating.

Currently, Eastwood spearheads the gifted cast in the film “Alarum“, where he portrays a spy who is married to…another spy. His espionage-expert spouse is brought to life by Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling) and the narrative of “Alarum” eventually propels them on an exhilarating mission, all while they attempt to savor a romantic getaway abroad. Eastwood shared with us that he found the film reminiscent of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith“, particularly its characters. He described it as “a delightful movie to be part of.” It’s also enjoyable to watch, too. From Lionsgate, the film “Alarum” is set for release in cinemas, on demand, and digitally on January 17.
