After Watching The First 3 Eps Of The Traitors US Season 3, There Are 6 Things I Really Hope I’m Wrong About

The highly anticipated third season of “The Traitors” delivered an exhilarating comeback filled with viral sensations, pivotal plot twists, and a captivating ensemble. To top it off, Alan Cumming remained stylishly dashing in every episode. As an ardent admirer of the show, I have eagerly awaited this season, and so far, it’s as chaotic as anticipated!

While the incidents in the initial three episodes of The Traitors Season 3 have sparked some apprehensions, I remain optimistic that this season will be exceptional. Yet, I do express some reservations and would like to avoid certain occurrences. Let’s discuss these points further.

Warning: The Traitors Season 3 Episodes 1-3 spoilers are ahead. Proceed with caution.

Boston Rob Becoming The Last Traitor Standing.

It’s hardly surprising that Boston Rob joined The Traitors Season 3 given the hints that were dropped, but opinions about his arrival on The Traitors are divided. Admittedly, my familiarity with Boston Rob is limited to his latest seasons on Survivor and Deal or No Deal Island, so I wouldn’t classify myself as a die-hard fan or adversary of his.

I don’t have a strong opinion about him, but I’m definitely a fan of Danielle Reyes, Bob the Drag Queen, and Carolyn Wiger. I’m hoping one or more of them will excel on The Traitors Season 3, although it might be challenging for them. Some viewers are already suspicious of Bob and Danielle as potential Traitors, while Carolyn has managed to stay under the radar so far. However, her wandering around the house in Episode 3 raised some eyebrows.

Bob, Carolyn, and Danielle haven’t managed to hide their true identities as Traitors among the Faithfuls effectively. Boston Rob is currently under the radar, but Derrick Levasseur should keep an eye on him because he might uncover Rob’s deceit and try to convince others to oust him. However, Rob is skilled at forming loyal alliances, so even if Derrick discovers his traitorous actions, it could be difficult for Rob to be eliminated due to the number of supporters he has amassed.

Contrarily, several members of the Season 3 cast have a good enough understanding of Boston Rob to avoid some of his previous deceits. However, due to the current editing style, there’s a concern that he might progress further in the game than the other three Traitors.

There’s nothing wrong or illegal about Boston Rob winning Season 3 of “The Traitors.” He’s a fan of the show, and his dedication is evident, making his win justified and engaging. However, I would find it more intriguing if one of the other three contestants won as Traitors.

Some Of The Reality TV Stars Fading To The Background

I’m acquainted with around 14 individuals from the cast of The Traitors Season 3, which means I know more than I don’t know about them. Conversely, for The Traitors Season 2 cast, I knew many of them but not quite enough. Interestingly, some of my favorite characters from Season 2 were those I didn’t know much about prior to the season, such as Phaedra Parks, Shereé Whitfield, MJ Javid, and Kate Chastain was another favorite from The Traitors Season 1.

Consequently, it was thrilling to spot a few acquainted personalities, yet what truly sparked my excitement was encountering some fresh talents unfamiliar to me. After three initial episodes, I find myself apprehensive that the series might concentrate excessively on specific characters, potentially leaving many others with minimal screentime.

It’s common for reality TV shows, especially those emphasizing larger-than-life personalities, to see some individuals becoming less prominent after a few episodes. However, it’s still early in The Traitors Season 3, so their roles could shift significantly soon. Ideally, I’d like to get acquainted with most of the cast members to some extent, even though not everyone needs a leading role.

Many Big Personalities Are Eliminated Early

Wells Adams, Dorinda Medley, Chanel Ayan, and Tony Vlachos have all been either eliminated or killed off. I know Tony from the show “Survivor” and Wells from various reality TV programs. However, I’m not acquainted with Dorinda or Ayan. In the initial episodes of “Traitors,” Ayan quickly caught my attention for her outspokenness and ability to command attention.

It was clear she’d provide memorable TV scenes. While Dorinda didn’t fully show her charms during her screen time, I’ve heard whispers about her Real Housewives reputation (and some past challenges) that hint she could have been entertaining on The Traitors. I’m aware Tony and Wells are larger-than-life personalities, and it appears Ayan and Dorinda aren’t far behind.

As a devoted cinephile, I’ve noticed that the departure of larger-than-life characters could set a trend that eases my earlier concerns about certain reality TV stars slipping into obscurity. However, it’s crucial to maintain a balance between the loud and subtle personalities to infuse a show with the necessary depth and intrigue.

Dylan Efron Being Banished Or Dying Soon On The Traitors Season 3

Dylan Efron, a contestant, has made an impression among the titans of reality TV. Whether this notoriety will turn out to be beneficial or detrimental remains uncertain. He could emulate Peter Weber in a negative light, leading the charge against the Traitors in a less-than-gracious manner. On the other hand, he could transform into a likable figure hunting for the Traitors. Time will tell. I only hope he stays long enough to provide an entertaining challenge for the Traitors.

As a movie reviewer, I find myself apprehensive about Dylan’s outspoken nature in “The Traitors” Season 3. His vocalness might lead to his demise, either by being silenced by the Traitors to keep their secrets hidden, or by causing others to doubt his loyalty as a Faithful. However, I desperately hope that my fears are unfounded. Dylan has the potential to be a standout reality TV star and one of the most intriguing Faithfuls this season, if given the chance.

The Changes To The Challenges Make Them Less Interesting Than They Are On The Traitors UK

It’s common knowledge that The Traitors UK, The Traitors US (and likely The Traitors Canada) employ identical competition formats. I don’t find this bothersome and choose not to join those voicing concerns about these similarities. However, I must admit I felt a slight irritation upon discovering that The Traitors Season 3 US incorporated the cage twist, but with a modification.

In the UK version, three team members took a risk for the collective benefit and were returned in cages. Yet, only two of them would receive another opportunity. The remaining players then dispersed coins into individual containers. The first two to descend entered the game, while the third was cut from the competition. Contrastingly, in the US version of The Traitors, they carried out a similar challenge but without the elimination step.

In the UK version, a contestant had to depart, making it more thrilling. On the other hand, when Derrick, Boston Rob, and Wes Bergmann returned for the US game, they were guaranteed to stay in the competition. This suggests that the producers of the US version prioritized having these players over creating a more engaging experience by setting lower stakes.

I’m open to variations among different international editions to maintain a sense of novelty, but I prefer changes that enhance interest rather than diminish it.

Danielle Follows The Trend Of Other Legendary Big Brother Players In Not Making It Far

By January 2025, over a handful of ex-participants from North American Big Brother shows have competed in both the US and Canadian versions of The Traitors. Most of these players failed to reach the finals. Interestingly, one contestant who previously appeared on Big Brother Canada excelled during their season of The Traitors. However, it seems there’s a trend that former Big Brother participants don’t fare as well on The Traitors.

This is rather surprising since they’d typically shine on The Traitors given its gameplay resembles that of a popular, long-standing reality TV series on CBS.

I wasn’t thrilled when Danielle was chosen as a Traitor. It looked like a difficult role for her since I would have guessed she was a Traitor early on if I were playing. The part seems tailored for her. Some other Faithfuls might be thinking the same thing. I worry that she could be one of the first Traitors eliminated and won’t reach the final stages. I hope I’m wrong about this, as I want Danielle to do well, if not win, in Season 3 of The Traitors.

It’s time for a Danielle Reyes win.

Even though it’s quite early, I really hope that the concerns I have regarding this season don’t materialize. Yet, if they do, I believe this season will prove to be incredibly engaging, chaotic, and thought-provoking, sparking plenty of discussions.

The Traitors streams every Thursday with a Peacock subscription.
