This past week has been incredibly frightening, overwhelming, and bizarre for us here in Los Angeles, where we carry out our jobs, reside, and educate our children,” Jimmy Kimmel remarked to his evening show’s viewers.
During his Monday evening speech, Kimmel frequently choked back tears as he displayed the proximity of the wildfire to their studio, which is located on the bustling Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Kimmel found himself nearly in tears multiple times during his Monday night show when he shared that the wildfire was extremely close to their studio situated on Hollywood Boulevard, one of LA’s busiest streets.
Due to sudden circumstances, many of us were forced to abandon our homes, while some of our colleagues unfortunately lost their residences. It’s been a devastating situation,” he clarified. “Residents of this city are personally acquainted with numerous individuals – often more than one; family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors – whose houses have gone up in flames. The sad reality is that we’re not sure if the crisis has passed. We had winds reaching 100 mph driving this disaster and as of tonight, those same strong winds have returned.
He went on to express, “I believe I can echo the feelings of everyone when I say this has been a heart-wrenching, staggering, appalling ordeal. Yet, it’s also been profoundly moving because, once more, we witness our fellow human beings uniting in support, those who suffered the loss of their homes are selflessly giving their time to help others who find themselves in similar situations.
Kimmel also criticized President-elect Donald Trump and his handling of the wildfires, which are still burning and have sadly claimed at least 24 lives as of the latest news report. The Palisades Fire is currently 14% under control, while the Eaton Fire has improved to 33% containment, but meteorologists warn that conditions will be exceptionally hazardous on Tuesday.
Tonight, Kimmel expressed his disdain for the offensive and reckless comments made by our future president and his associates during a critical time. He found it particularly appalling that they targeted firefighters who are putting their lives on the line for us. Instead, he chose to express gratitude towards these brave individuals, emphasizing that our focus should be on thanking them rather than dwelling on the negativity.
He loudly acknowledged all the U.S. states that dispatched firefighters, plus those from Mexico and Canada, along with first responders, medical professionals, local journalists, and LA-based actor Steve Guttenberg, whom Kimmel referred to as a “national treasure” for his efforts in helping evacuees and those who lost their homes in the LA neighborhoods.

Additionally, Kimmel highlighted the widespread relief efforts across various industries, such as Disney contributing $15 million on Monday and local restaurants joining forces, all while urging viewers to contribute through LAFD.org. He shared that at one time, he had 19 people and four dogs residing with him, and jokingly mentioned the challenges of deciding what to take in a hurry when evacuating homes due to emergencies. Kimmel admitted that if he needed to evacuate, he would prioritize taking his phone to use the Watch Duty app, an indispensable tool for Angelenos during such times.
On his program appeared Snoop Dogg, who Kimmel described as embodying L.A., along with Roy Wood Jr. and Griffin Goldsmith of the band Dawes, two individuals from the vast array of Tinseltown celebrities who have tragically lost their homes in the wildfires.
Jimmy Kimmel’s show, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, resumed filming on Monday, following a temporary halt last week due to the wildfires in Los Angeles County that started on January 7th. Over a dozen TV shows based in L.A. had temporarily stopped production because of the fires in Pacific Palisades, Altadena, and other areas across the region which are still burning as of Monday evening, having scorched over 60 square miles so far.
Disney’s 20th Television is largely halting its TV show productions, but Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show continues as usual. Starting this week, some series like “Hacks” and “Suits LA” will resume filming. However, other shows such as “After Midnight” on CBS and “Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC are yet to start up again.

Disney’s 20th Television is mainly putting the brakes on its TV productions, with only Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show carrying on. Starting this week, “Hacks” and “Suits LA” are set to recommence filming, but shows like “After Midnight” on CBS and “Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC remain on standby.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! has established a donation center at its lot behind the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, as shared on Instagram yesterday. The show announced that they will promptly distribute necessary items to those in need. They expressed their gratitude for the support and asked people to share this information with neighbors in the area.
As a helpful contributor, I’m eager to share that I can donate various essential items to the relief center. These include bottled water, Gatorade, baby food, pet food, long-lasting food supplies, fresh toiletries and hygiene products, new socks and underwear, diapers, and baby wipes. Let’s make a difference together!
Kimmel was one of several Hollywood celebrities featured in ESPN’s digital broadcast during Monday night’s playoff match between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings, which had been relocated from Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium to Arizona. Kimmel teamed up with Snoop Dogg to express “Stay strong, L.A.” with the rapper adding a message of gratitude: “Thank you to everyone assisting us during this difficult time. We are all in this together.
More to come.
