Should Sasha And Morgan End Up Together On Nobody Wants This? Justine Lupe Has An A+ Take I Hope They Stick With

Among the standout series on Netflix over the past year, “Nobody Wants This” truly stood out. The connection between Adam Brody and Kristen Bell’s characters was significant, yet it was their fictional siblings, Sasha and Morgan, who captivated audiences most. Actress Justine Lupe, portraying Morgan, has recently commented on the possibility of Sasha and Morgan ending up together. In her opinion, which I hope is explored in the second season as part of the 2025 television lineup, it presents a compelling perspective that adds depth to their relationship.

As we approach the second half of this year, the new episode of the Brody/Bell-led series is scheduled to air. At present, specific plot details are scarce. In the meantime, Justine Lupe recently discussed the rom-com series on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast and expressed her hopes for the upcoming season. When queried about her desires for Morgan’s relationship with Timothy Simons’ character Sasha, she dismissed any romantic notions and shared her thoughts:

Instead of finding joy in the destruction of a family, it seems to me that there’s an abundance of amusement to be discovered in our transformation into peculiar companions. Destruction isn’t enjoyable.

The Succession alum makes an intriguing observation. Instead of focusing on romance and potentially complicating the existing family drama, it’s more captivating to see these comical characters escalate their antics with each other. Personally, I can’t wait for even more laughter in the series, especially knowing that some of the material was improvised. The unconventional storylines and unique elements are a big part of why Nobody Wants This is so well-received.

During the first season, Justin Lupe was pregnant, making filming an intriguing experience for her. Now, as we move forward with new episodes, one can only imagine what that will be like for her. The actress from Luckiest Girl Alive, during a recent interview, disclosed that she engaged in discussions with the writers and even provided them with constructive feedback. At a meeting, she confidently expressed her well-considered thoughts, which were highly valued. Regarding her motivation for suggesting her take following show creator Erin Foster’s similar ideas, Lupe explained:

Previously, she mentioned that she would have expressed herself more tactfully if not for her initial statement… In hindsight, it might have sounded something like, ‘Regardless of what the writers choose, we’re all good with it.’ However, we certainly did discuss our thoughts in the writers’ room. They requested our input, and one of my suggestions was, ‘There seems to be a lot of potential for these two characters becoming friends.’

If the creative team chooses to develop Sasha and Morgan’s characters in this unconventional manner, it could spark intrigue for the show. This is due to the fact that a strong friendship can offer more compelling narrative possibilities than a predictable romantic relationship. Additionally, if they need to counterbalance the anticipated Brodysscance, driven by millennials (yes, we’re guilty!), then having a flexible storyline would be beneficial.

Regarding Sasha and Morgan’s future, only time will reveal the answer. However, I share the hope with Justine Lupe that their relationship in the series continues to thrive. The way they interacted in Season 1 is one of the aspects I enjoyed most while watching the show.
