Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel entered the film industry together in the year 2000 with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. They had known each other prior to capturing the hearts of audiences. More recently, the star of Gadar 2 reminisced about Ameesha as a skinny, shy, and awkward teenager. She also discussed their mutual evolution and growth as individuals.
In a recent chat with News 18, actress Ameesha Patel praised her Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai co-star Hrithik Roshan, acknowledging that he remains influential and a ‘symbol of fitness’ for his fans, despite the passage of time.
When asked about her initial thoughts on the actor, Patel revealed, “Being family friends, I’ve known him since our teenage years. Back then, he was a slender, shy, and somewhat awkward individual, much like myself. Upon my return to Mumbai following my education in Boston, I was amazed to see how much he had changed!
Ameesha compared Hrithik Roshan to the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. She recalled labeling him as a ‘superstar’ before he recognized it, and she admitted that her opinion made her seem biased. The actress mentioned that they had evolved from being awkward teenagers into young adults.
She shared that they had grown more self-assured and conversational, losing their initial shyness. From the start, we got along wonderfully! I often referred to him as Pierce Brosnan, the Bond, and even gave him the nickname “Greek God.” This moniker has stuck with him since the very beginning, and I take great pride in it.
Under the direction of Rakesh Roshan, the movie Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai featured Ameesha Patel and Hrithik Roshan in lead roles, along with notable performances by Anupam Kher, Mohnish Bahl, Dalip Tahil, and others. Approaching its 25th anniversary, this film was recently re-released in cinemas on January 10, 2025, marking Roshan’s 51st birthday.
