Producers Guild of America and Entertainment Community Fund Establish Fire Relief Fund

In response to the destructive Los Angeles wildfires, the Producers Guild of America and Entertainment Community Fund have joined forces to offer aid to struggling filmmakers.

As a passionate supporter of our creative industry, I’m thrilled to share that several organizations have united to create a special fund for film, TV, and emerging media creators impacted by the fires. The Producers Guild of America (PGA) will donate a portion of their Awards’ earnings to this fund, with more contributions expected from its members. Initial pledges amount to $300,000, as announced Tuesday by the PGA. They expressed deep sadness over the devastation and displacement faced by our fellow creators, stating that they are “heartbroken.

The announcement of the 2025 PGA Awards nominees in film and television categories, initially planned for a second time, has been postponed due to ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The affected individuals’ well-being is the primary concern, hence the delay. The Producers Guild of America Awards, originally set for Feb. 8 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, will now announce the nominees next week.

In response to devastating damage on the Westside of Los Angeles, extending up to Altadena and nearby communities, various entities such as Hollywood production studios, streaming platforms, talent agencies, and charities have united in offering aid. The CAA Foundation, a philanthropic division of Creative Artists Agency, CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) – an assistance organization co-founded by Sean Penn and Ann Lee, and the Los Angeles Unified School District Education Foundation have collaborated to establish the SoCal Fire Fund.

Some notable companies such as Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon, Comcast, Netflix, Sony, Paramount Global, and Fox Corp have made significant contributions to aid relief efforts. Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery each donated $15 million, Amazon, Comcast, and Netflix gave $10 million each, Sony added $5 million, while Paramount Global and Fox Corp contributed $1 million respectively.
