The dispute concerning alleged misbehavior during the production of “It Ends With Us” persists, as Justin Baldoni takes legal action against Blake Lively and her spouse Ryan Reynolds, claiming they masterminded an attempt to tarnish his reputation by organizing a slanderous campaign.
In a lawsuit filed in the federal court of New York on Thursday, Baldoni accuses several parties of extortion, defamation, breach of contract, among other offenses. He’s not alone; his film studio, Wayfarer, its CEO Jamey Heath, and their PR representatives, Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel, are also involved in the lawsuit. Together, they demand a minimum compensation of $400 million.
Additionally involved in the legal case were Lively’s spouse, Ryan Reynolds, along with Leslie Sloane, the public relations representative of Vision PR for the actresses, who did not promptly offer a statement in response to our request.
In a statement, Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s legal representative, declared that the lawsuit is founded on an enormous volume of authentic evidence revealing Blake Lively and her team’s deceitful efforts to harm Justin Baldoni, his team, and their businesses by circulating significantly altered, unverified, fresh, and doctored information to the media.
He stated, “Given our readiness to disclose all pertinent messages, emails, videos, and other relevant documents exchanged among us in real-time, it’s evident that her attempt in this matter is futile and one she may come to regret.
The lawsuit filed against Baldoni and his PR team is a result of Lively’s decision to take legal action over their alleged scheme to harm her reputation as retaliation for exposing sexual misconduct on the film set. Coincidentally, on the same day last month that this legal action was initiated, Baldoni counter-sued The New York Times, accusing them of colluding with Lively’s PR team to promote an unverified and self-serving story while overlooking evidence contradicting her claims.
One intriguing factor that keeps legal dramas captivating in Hollywood is the complex network of connections among the key figures involved in lawsuits. Not long after ending their business relationship, WME, who represents both Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, publicly stated that the married couple did not force the agency to sever ties with Baldoni.
In Baldoni’s records, it is stated that Reynolds allegedly pressured Baldoni’s agent during the premiere of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ However, this assertion is false. The representative in question was not present at the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ premiere and neither Reynolds nor Lively ever applied pressure on Baldoni to drop him as a client at any point.
Baldoni disputes WME’s denial and presents an opposing version of events. In his legal filing, he claims he was informed that during the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds spoke to an executive at Baldoni’s agency (WME) and expressed strong dislike towards him, implying they were associating with a ‘predator’ (a term that subsequently appeared in media reports). At a later time, Reynolds allegedly requested the agent to stop representing him.
