It seems like the third season of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” barely hit TV screens in 2025, yet a large number of celebrities have already been eliminated. Among the contestants, we’ve seen unexpected departures such as Stephen Baldwin, who was disqualified for expressing worries about getting hurt, and dramatic medical withdrawals from athletes like Marion Jones-Thompson and Landon Donovan. As a fan of “The Bachelor” franchise, I’m saddened not only because I won’t get to see Ali Fedotowsky-Manno and Trista Sutter anymore, but also because the reason for their departure runs deeper than just missing them on the show.
It’s really disheartening to me that Trista Sutter and Ali Fedotowsky-Manno have dropped out from the Fox competition show so soon into the season, given how successfully Bachelor Nation alumni have performed on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. In fact, every contestant from The Bachelor/Bachelorette who participated in this show had won it before this season, with Hannah Brown taking the title in Season 1 and both Nick Viall and Tyler Cameron emerging victorious in Season 2.
As a passionate cinema-goer and longtime fan of ‘The Bachelor’ franchise, I can’t help but feel disheartened that Ali Fedotowsky-Manno’s finger injury halted her participation in ‘Special Forces.’ She was such an integral part of the series, from her stint on Jake Pavelka’s season to becoming the Bachelorette in Season 6. Watching her have to medically withdraw due to injury was tough, and it was hard for fans like me not to share in her disappointment.
Shortly following her was one of the most well-known contestants from the franchise, Trista Sutter, who was the first runner-up on Season 1 of The Bachelor and later became the inaugural lead on The Bachelorette. Trista is currently married to the man she met on that show, Ryan Sutter. Notably, Ryan created a stir this past summer when it was reported that Trista had gone missing to film Special Forces. Her departure was prompted by an incident where she apparently fell into hypothermic shock during a challenge. According to TV Insider, Trista stated:
In the end, I found myself experiencing hypothermic shock – a state where I struggled to lift my head and my jaw seemed frozen, which was truly terrifying for me. Fortunately, Christy [Carlson Romano] was with me in the car and urged, ‘You’re turning blue! Get on my lap.’ Both she and Cam [Newton] then had me sit on their laps, piling every coat and sweatshirt they could find on top of me. They cranked up the heat inside the vehicle. Normally, one isn’t supposed to speak to producers in the car, but that day was an exception – it was a genuinely frightening ordeal.
It’s clear they made the right decisions, given how serious the circumstances were. Even though we’re disappointed about our Bachelor Nation representatives leaving, it’s hard to dispute their choices. It would have been thrilling to see the contestants from the dating show excel in a competition that is both physically and mentally challenging, continuing the trend they had set.
After learning about the intense, almost unbearable ordeal that ex-“Bachelorette” Hannah Brown experienced during the final examination of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test”, I can’t fathom why anyone would want to take part in the show. Yet, surprisingly, Season 2 was introduced, featuring former “Bachelor” Nick Viall and Tyler Cameron, who was a finalist on Hannah Brown’s season. Remarkably, they both managed to complete the test that concluded that season.
As we approach Season 3, it remains to be seen who among us has the necessary skills to finish the journey. However, Bachelor Nation fans are finding it tough to accept that this season won’t feature one of their own as the lead. Don’t miss out on the latest episodes airing every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. And keep an eye out for potential future contestants when Grant Ellis’ season of “The Bachelor” kicks off on ABC at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, January 27.
